It was right around 12 weeks that we started shifting towards an earlier bedtime. Try moving it up by 15-30 minutes each night to get to your ideal bedtime.

I think waking him up at 7am will naturally make him ready for bed earlier. You also have to treat him waking up 45 minutes later as if he's waking up in the middle of the night (I.e. no lights or stimulation). If you feel like he needs to eat, then I'd feed in the dark and put him back down. If not, soothe him back to sleep.

DD used to go to bed around 9:30 until she was about 5 months old. Then it started getting 30 min earlier about every few weeks to a month. Now she goes to bed around 6:30 or 7.

My LO used to be a 10:30 bedtime and after starting daycare at 12 weeks she has decided to move it up to 8:30, I think she was tired from daycare and waking up earlier. I would love to get it to 7:30 or 8, but I'm okay with where it is now.

Thanks for responding. I guess we will just continue with what we are doing and see how the switch to daycare goes.

I think by having his day start earlier his bedtime will probably start moving up on its own. My LO had a similar sleep schedule to yours but once we started getting her up earlier, her bedtime started getting earlier and earlier. So If my LO wakes up at 630 then she will be exhausted by 7. If you want to start moving it up I'd say get him up for the day maybe half an hour earlier every day and start the bedtime routine earlier too.

My son is 16w and has finally gotten his bedtime to 9pm. It started off at 11pm. It was cool because he slept from 11-11 and I had time to shower and clean in the AM.
But for your situation, I totally get why you'd want to go earlier.
I would recommend shaving down *each* nap. My sons nap could go for 2h if I let him. I wake him up after the 45min mark so that he will sleep at 9pm.
I only had to do that for about a week until he adjusted himself and now he naps as long as he wants because we've got 9-9 scheduled down packed.
I also make sure to add about .5oz to each feeding all dayso that he is full enough to sleep at 9.
That being said...I think Togo from 10pm to a 7pm bedtime will just take time. Maybe when your lO is 6ms and drops a nap during the day, he might go to sleep earlier?

Once E started daycare he quickly moved his own bedtime up. I had started a bedtime routine with him around 6 weeks, but he was still not going down until around 9. Once he started daycare, was forced to get up earlier, and was so much more stimulated during the day he would get crabby in the evenings and just naturally wanted to go down earlier. His bedtime is 7 now.

@MUI831: I think it takes time for some babies to get to a 7pm-7am bed time. For the first 7 months my LO wouldnt sleep before 10.30 pm, anytime i tried to bring her bed time a little bit earlier it would mess up the entire night of sleep. right now she is 9 months and sleeps around 8pm

DS is 11w and is generally a great sleeper. He usually sleeps 12 hours from 10pm-10am and wakes 2x to feed. This hasn't been too much of a problem so far since I've been at home and like the later wake up times. However, I go back to work next Monday so I'm worried that he's going to lose out on a lot of sleep as I'll need to wake him at 7am in order to feed, dress, and get him to daycare on time. I've been wondering how to get him to have an earlier bed time. Ideally, I would love for him to go to bed at 7 pm and sleep until 7 am.

I don't know if this is normal for his age or if I just have a night owl. My mom seems to think that an earlier bedtime will happen organically with time. Maybe daycare will tire him out and he'll want to go to bed earlier.

Currently, we have a bedtime routine that includes a bath, a massage and a nursing session. This is done right around 7. He's usually tired at this time anyways and we've been trying to start this as a habit. However, he treats this as a nap and will wake up around 45 minutes later.

We've tried just getting him to go down around 9:30 or 9:45 to try to ease him earlier but usually, he won't go down for the night until right around 10.

Has anyone dealt with this?
