@sorrycharlie: yeah, it's very compact and I like that the shoulders, arms and hood are a waterproof material with fleece underneath! I personally don't mind tucking the hood down in the car seat.

C wears 2t or 3t in tops and the 3t fits her will room to spare- I wish it were a tiny bit bigger so id be sure t would last until spring, but I think the 4t would be too big. I roll the cuffs once but she is a little short. I think the girl ones might be slightly more fitted than boys.

L has a 3T one that I wish were a smidge bigger. If it weren't a non-returnable gift I'd have exchanged it for the four.

I think it depends on which one you are getting. This is the one we have:

http://www.columbia.com/boys-steens-mt-ii-fleece---toddler-WD6760.html

I think the girl one is similar. They fit slightly small - we ordered the 2T last year because it was bigger than the 24m version and it fit Xander perfectly, even though he normally was wearing 18m tops. So definitely size up.

@sorrycharlie: is your older in 3T tops or 4T?

I would get 12-18 for the younger.

@sorrycharlie: I think they run a little big. My mom got one for my oldest last year and he can still squeeze into it this year. He's 2.5 and a big guy and the fleece is a size 3T.

Dd is about 99 cm tall at 2 years 10 months old and 16 kg chunky wearing size 4 Columbia zip up fleece. Its a bit baggy but still fits! I think it will last her another year.

huh....good to know. so 4T is probably safe, if not a bit big, for O. but C is wearing 9m carters (some 12m tighter pants..) so I'm clueless there. I guess 12-18?

I've found they run pretty true to size but I go a size up so they can (hopefully) wear them for two years.

My 11 month old is wearing 12 - 18 month clothes, I ordered the 12 - 18 month coat and it's not going to fit him long...
The arms are tight (too tight for wearing a sweater/thick sweatshirt under) but long (well past his fingertips)... so the fitting is odd. I should've bought one size up.

My younger is 14m and in 18m clothing and the 12-18m was a bit snug. Definitely won't last the winter so I swapped it for 18-24m. The sleeves are a little big longer so I just fold it. There's just a tad more width too.

They seem to run TTS to slightly large. I usually buy one size up in outerwear and the 4 we have is way too big in the arms for my 3 year old.

I'm thinking of ordering Columbia fleece for the girls but do they run true to size? My 3 year old is wearing a 2T fleece (Champion, from Target) from last year and it's pretty beat up now. but it does fit..just difficult for her to get off. it seems to run large.
