For a long time, I just stopped working on my hobbies. My husband tried to continue to workout/cycle and stuff but he was getting frustrated as well. Scheduling have been much easier now that they're both toddlers. I am working out more regularly. Cooking/baking (for fun) a little more. And I plan on taking tennis lessons this summer.

Baby plus work plus getting a small amount of sleep is all I can fit in my life these days.

As for me, I just finished sewing a body pillowcase a few minutes ago! First time I sewed in about 6 months. I do have my same hobbies but everything is just less frequent....and I spend more time on internet b/c it is the most convenient hobby. Hobbies are like 10th on our priority list so we rarely get to it. I think I have to force myself to socialize more often as well.

DH has kept up his (another church and softball guy) but I honestly can't see how I'll keep up with any of my interests or hobbies until LO is older. It's a good day when I can shower and brush my teeth right now!

@Mrs. High Heels: haha I'm just testing out the new board... seeing how it feels!

My hobbies are similar to yours... I mostly like to read and write at home. Sometimes I go crazy and head to a nearby cafe for iced coffee!

@Mrs. High Heels: I could have written your post. Down to the softball league and church responsibilities. :). I'm not nursing anymore, but a lot of my friends are. We've all just gotten really bad at socializing. I'm prone to be a homebody too, which is so not the pre-LO Weagle!

haha, are you creating these new threads to add to the new awesome board you created??

to answer your question, DH still maintains his hobbies pretty regularly, like he's in a softball league and they have games once a week, or he serves on the production team at our church one sunday a month. two weeks ago he went on an all-day fishing trip with some guys.

as for me, DH tries to encourage me to get out and do more, but it honestly is tough because i'm nursing and prefer to nurse over pump... so if i do go out it's only in 2-3 hour increments. my hobbies can easily be done at home though - reading, blogging, watching scandal on hulu. :) i'm such a homebody that i don't mind being at home, and i really enjoy the 1-2 hours of downtime i have at the end of the day when the kids are down. i recently made a commitment to actually force myself to go out more by initiating with girlfriends at least once a month. it's crazy that i have to force myself to socialize!

My hobbies happen during C's naps and night - DH's usually happen while I watch C ... Kinda stinks.

Life with a young kid can be a huge amount of work!

I've noticed that some people completely give up their hobbies when a baby comes... whereas others continue to maintain their hobbies/interests. What's tricky is when one person maintains their hobbies, while the other person has to give everything up due to lack of time... sometimes happiness can feel like a zero sum game!

What hobbies do you have? How do you and your SO handle balancing your hobbies with the demands of a newborn/toddler?
