@banana: :-) so cute that your son is excited for gummy vitamins!

@mediagirl: just postathon fun!

@SAHM0811: well the baby usually cries the whole time, but hasn't the last two, so I hope we're onto easier times. Maybe?? :-)

Um, lock them in their rooms and rock back and forth in a corner? Actually, that hasn't worked with two, so no idea.

@Andrea: well it's interesting. My 5 yo started to ask me to pat her sleep sometimes, while my 2 year old can just go to bed on her own most of the time. I don't mind... It takes like 5 mins, and she's just growing up so fast anyway! But yeah, I'm stoked with our bedtime routine now. So much easier than years past!

@Andrea: oh!! haha... hmm, well I imagine nothing would change with the older two. I'd probably try to get the baby down first, then cater to the older ones. My friend with 3 under 5 starts bedtime routine at 5pm, that's all I know! I didn't ask her anymore details than that. LOL.

They're 5 and 2 now, so it's so much easier. Everything is done at the same time: bath, pjs, brushing teeth, reading books, prayers, white noise... then lights out! I usually pat one of them sleep... We alternate nights sometimes... It doesn't take long though.

ETA: they share a room and are in twin beds.

Lately it's been a lot easier than in the past, mainly because we do early baths! So the second I get home, we do bath (they both bath together). I put a bunch of water toys in the tub, run the water, and they have a blast. Then my son will play with his trains or read some books and my DD sits on her high chair while I finish cooking. My son eats while I feed DD. We play for a little while and I tell DS that I'm putting his little sister to bed. In the past, he'd whine so I'd let him watch TV. But I've been trying to cut out all screen time and it's been SO helpful! I bought a few books that I pull out only when I"m putting DD down. And he gets SUPER excited about those. So I tell him that if he reads/plays quietly while I put his sister down, I'll give him a treat (which is his 2 gummy vitamins but he doesn't know they're vitamins. hehe). It's been working pretty well so far! Once in a while he'll yell for me but I bribe him with his special treat. I don't know what I"d do without sweets!

This works the best for me... give the baby (6 months) a bath around 4:45. Prep and cook dinner while they play. I nurse the baby while LO (22 months) eats at 6. I put the baby down for the night at 6:30. LO gets a bath and is ready for bed by 7. I clean up and eat after they are asleep...and I call DH at work and complain! :-)

I guess it depends on the age. When my kids were younger my younger child would go to bed while my older watched tv.( tv was a life saver for me!)

Now they are older, 2.5 and 5 - I read to them at the same time, brush teeth and then I put DS in bed and have him look at books while I get his sister in bed - then I come back in DS room for one last snuggle.
