Seems like most people go from when they got pregnant, rather than from the lowest weight! Thanks for your responses. I asked because I always wonder what is meant by the recommendations.

I never really knew b/c I completely didn't remember exactly how much I weighed when I got pregnant (and kept forgetting to ask the dr too) so I just estimated from my "normal"weight before pregnancy.

@MoonMoon: Yeah, I know it's normal to lose weight but with twins, my OB wanted me to gain 20 lbs by 20 weeks. At 20 weeks, from my starting weight, I had only gained 6 lbs... but if you go by the weight my OB had (in the middle of having HG), she said I gained about 10 lbs. I've heard that some people gain more in their 2nd and 3rd trimesters but I'm having trouble reaching my 2nd trimester weight goal. The nausea I'm still having is really sucks. I'll feel good and eat a lot but one day of nausea wipes my appetite. OB said she isn't concerned but I know it's best for the babies if I gain weight. It's just so hard with the sporadic nausea.

That's a good question. I lost 8 pounds in my first trimester, but I gained it all back plus more! I like to use my starting weight, so then I don't feel like I'm gaining too much. If I use my lowest weight, then I feel like I need to start exercising lol. To give you an idea - I'm 34 weeks and I've gained 23 pounds from my starting weight or 31 pounds from my lowest weight.

I go from the first doctor's appointment during week 3/4 (because we were moving and my scale was packed when we found out I was pregnant, so that's the earliest weight I have).

I gained a ton of bloat around 6 weeks and shot up 4 lbs, but since went back down to the original weight. I think that's the opposite of losing weight because of MS, so it makes sense to stick with the original weight as a starting point.

@bluestriped bee: I think it's normal to lose weight in the first tri, especially with MS!

I go by the day or earliest day I knew I was pregnant. I don't remember the exact day I weighed myself but I would say I was 4 ish weeks. I know it was before the nausea started at 5 weeks.

My OB has a different number but I think I was 8-9 weeks and at that point my HG was already in full swing. So they have a lower weight.

It's hard because I don't think I'm gaining enough because my starting number is higher than what the OB has. I wish I was gaining more but I'm still on anti nausea meds. OB says they aren't concerned because the babies are doing well.

...if you lost weight at some point in your pregnancy? Do you measure from the day you got pregnant, from your lowest weight, or something else?
