I second @looch: that pet enzyme products for odor or urine work really well. I'm usually just a baking soda or vinegar kind of cleaner but mattress smells needed something more.

I need mattress covers!! I used vinegar and baking soda, and vacuumed it up this morning. It's still wet. I'm not concerned about the stains, just the smell :meh: Thank You!

I don't have any advice but I would suggest a waterproof & bed bug proof mattress protector. They are really soft and not at all crinkly. We got one when we bought our new mattress. I nearly had an heart attack when one of our dogs had peed on our bed. Luckily, the mattress protector saved the day. They are only $30 or so on Amazon and can be a total lifesaver.

Oh, mine is hypoallergenic, so it helps with my husband's asthma.

Plus it could help block any smells that may linger.

Hope you get the smell and stain out of the bed.

I found that pet products work really well to clean vomit.

@T.H.O.U.: ditto. My mom showed me how to make the paste and gently scrub with a scrub brush! It works really well.

(Works for night time accidents too!)

It doesn't help now, but I would recommend buying a mattress protector for your own bed for the future!

If there's a smell, put down baking soda and leave it for the day. Vacuum it up before putting the sheets back on. Bac out nukes smells too. Stains are virtually impossible to remove. :(

We've had a nasty cough/cold running through our house since the week before Thanksgiving. It's hit my two lo's the worse. C just covered my mattress in puke. I JUST put our new bed set on this afternoon too. I know she just coughed to hard, it was after a really long coughing spell.

Anyway how do you clean that? Besides the three loads I'm running in the washer, I soaked the spot with white vinegar. What do you do?
