We took the lid that the nipples fit into off the dishwasher basket and set in the top rack by itself. Then we use the sterilize setting on the dishwasher. They get sparkly clean. I guess my issue is I get the bottles at the end of the day and they have been sitting for a while - so it is harder to clean them since the daycare lady doesn't wash them... I have hand-washed (my bottle brush has a special nipple brush that screws in the bottom of the handle - I think it's from Target), but hand washing doesn't sterilize because the water doesn't get hot enough. Special nipple cleaner brush?</p> <p>I feel like bottle washing is pretty easy &amp; fast - i handwash &amp; use the Medela soap &amp; a brush -- but I find the nipples such a pain to get really clean. I don't have a nipple cleaning device so I just use the bottle brush &amp; it's getting warped to fit in the nipples to clean...</p> <p>I also use the steam bags 1-2x a week.</p> <p>I have a dishwasher basket thing - but my husband never pre-rinses (ugh, i'm past arguing with him about it, ha) so I don't want to run them in the dishwasher in case food gets crusted on them - plus i don't know what soap would be safe to use.</p> <p>I'm just curious what you guys do, maybe I'm missing something easier? Or are they just a pain the the bum to clean? </p>
