Soapy water + steam sterilizer. We have a TT counter top steam sterilizer that I would just throw everything in after I washed it to sterilize.

@YellowBird: Yep. It is. I have *10* sets of pump parts so that I don't have to clean anything between sessions, and if I miss a day of washing it's no big deal (cus I still have clean parts ready to go). But wowsa, I have never spent so much time washing things!

I clean with the bottle brush with warm water and soap and air dry. Once every few days I steam the pieces. I have 3 sets ad just rotate through. I also steam the bottles/nipples once a week as well.

I sterilized everything before the first use, and now wash everything by hand with soap and almost scalding hot water. I probably should run everything through the steam bags, too, but I just haven't yet.

I usually rinse in hot water an then steam. I do wash with soapy water a few times a day but I usually pump 4X and that's a lot of washing!!

Each night, I hand wash in warm/hot soapy water and then air dry. I have boil sterilized once since I've been pumping and although I have the steam bags can't remember where they are at.

The directions on the bag say to wash with warm soapy water first but I mostly don't. It seems clean enough without the soap. I use soap if I see some residue. I just rinse in warm water to get all the milk off. Then I steam. I steam everything once a day.

I am sure this has been discussed before but i am fairly new to pumping. Just started doing it daily this week. So far i have been cleaning the parts in warm soapy water. But i wanted to try out those micro steam bags. This might be a silly question, but can you clean ONLY using the steam bags? or are the bags just to use when you want to sterilize once in a while?

Basically I'm confused if I would have clean with soap AND use the bags or are the bags enough?
