My son's teachets usually call for urgent messages or a note in my parent mailbox for calendar or non urgent messages. Or on weekends they text reminders.

Wearing my teacher hat... I find that majority of my students parents like text reminders and class dojo app.

I make it a point to chat with his teachers at pick up and drop off. The lead teacher is only there in the morning & early afternoon. The asst teachers always have more accurate info about bottles than the daily automated email. If need be I can call during the day.

The daycare we were previously at didn't do a great job communicating with the older kids. There was a quarterly email from the teachers & director to everyone, and otherwise it was mostly word of mouth from the teachers at pick up/drop off. We could call too..... For my baby that was there we had a notebook that traveled back & forth that they wrote in what they did during the day, eating, pooping and activities.

The preschool we're at now (still new) is sending out a weekly email with notes on what the kids did, a few "quotes" and photos they have taken of the weeks activities which i really like!

We can email her directly for specific questions or problems. We also get a daily communication notebook that has homework assignments and any reminders or forms that we may need.

DD's daycare doesn't have the app stuff; so I either write a question down on her log book, or call, or have whoever's dropping off/picking up ask.

Last year we communicated via email. This year at her new school the teachers have this app that allows them to text all parents as a group for reminders and whatnot. The parents can opt in and then use the phone number given to privately text them back. So the messages from the teachers go to all the parents, but if we reply it goes to just them two. We can use it for any concerns or to even let them know if our kids will be absent that day. I think it's a really neat idea!

Of course email and phone is still available as well!
