We grill it, but if it's too cold or wet out, I'll cook it in a skillet on the stove.

@sandy: the Lodge brand is great and very inexpensive. We bought ours at Walmart for < $20.

We do steaks in our cast iron grill pan. We do the Alton Brown method though I learned it from a friend!

We do something similar to the Alton Brown method. Always in cast iron. Although, be careful as our smoke alarm always goes off the windows/door isn't open!

Almost always over charcoal. Just a little s, P and garlic salt. A great steak needs nothing else! A close second is in a cast iron skillet. Yum.

We usually eat steak about once every couple of months, and I make it at home (even before we had kids!). I set it out about an hour before cooking, season with garlic salt, Montreal steak seasoning, and "Magic Dust" seasoning I got from the Hitching Post II.

Heat up the skillet (usually a big stainless steel one) for a few mins until it's really hot. Add the steak, set the timer for 3 mins, then flip. Cook for another 3 mins. If it's an extra thick cut, I'll put it in the oven for 2-3 mins at 350. Comes out perfect every time!

another Montreal steak seasoning fan! It's the best one I've tried...love that if has strong garlic, pepper and salt in it. We grill our steaks but I have a cast iron skillet on my wish list so I'll have to try cooking our steaks the Alton Brown way soon!

@mrbee: It's a mix of spices, specifically for steak (though we use it for a variety of things). Pretty sure a few different companies make versions of it.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: Very rarely do I have them and it HAS to be with a good cut of bacon.
