Just say no to mommy guilt! it's such an evil thing. YOU need to be happy in order to be a good mommy, PERIOD. Taking a few hours to yourself every week is not going to have ANY sort of detrimental thing on your child. It'll be BETTER for him because his mommy won't be stressed to the max!!!!

When i get stressed, I work out, i get away, something. Go to the park for a walk, dump the baby on DH and do something, etc. I call it baby-daddy bonding time, lol. Sometimes i just sit in a chair and enjoy the peace and quiet. I also keep a calendar and list things to do in it...I find that i'm a lot less stressed when everything has a place and time. I'm very, "oh i have time for that TOMORROW, i can enjoy NOW" when it comes to my schedule.

Retail therapy alone and music therapy alone in the car- find a good song and blast the music super loud. After a few songs I feel a little better.

@locavore_mama: I'd like to work part time. But I just started this job in February and I don't want to go asking for favors. I'm thinking about asking for reduced schedule when and if we get pregnant with LO #2..

Usually when I'm stressed I'll take a bath, drink some wine, go for a run, cuddle up with my dog, or unfortunately...shop :/

@littlek: Awww (((hugs))) I have seen a lot of posts regarding that from you lately. Do you want to be a sahm? Is that the root of your problem?

P. S. You are a fantastic mother!!!!! Mommy guilty is normal. You have had to deal with more than your fair share of daycare problems so I can understand the mommy guilt. But you have nothing to feel guilty about!

I usually wake up really in the morning on Saturday and bake alone. I find it extremely relaxing for some crazy reason.

@locavore_mama: I think DH and I need a date night. The issue is I have such mommy guilt being away from B. I already feel like a bad mom that I'm away from him so much during the week.

Right there with you! Usually it's a nice cup of tea and reading a easy book. Snuggling in front of the couch and watching a movie with DH when my darling daughter actually sleeps. Or the best is when DH and I are able to sneak a few hours on a weekend just the two of us. Which is rare, but that is the ultimate recharger.

When I am super stressed, I have a nice glass of wine, chill out and watch some trash TV, and take a nice hot shower or bath.

I used to run . . . a lot (I averaged 40 miles a week). And then when I couldn't run (if it was too late, or I had work to do), I would have a glass of wine (or two) for dinner. Not exactly the most healthy coping mechanisms. Now I do a couple of things . . . I give myself permission to *take the night off* after I get LO down (just do the bare minimum of cleanup/prep for the next day), and then I relax with some trashy t.v. Sometimes, when I am feeling really overwhelmed, I call my therapist and go in and have a chat.

You're dealing with A LOT . . . and it always seems like everyone else--including you!--expects you to be able to handle it all without breaking your stride, but that is NOT realistic! Everyone needs the time to be able to clear out some mental space so that they can maintain a good perspective . . . otherwise, it's like you never climb out of the weeds because your mind has become a jungle.

I went to my first acupuncture appointment yesterday and the main thing that came out of it is that I'm stressed out of my mind. I'm struggling balancing career, mommy guilt, husbands busy work schedule/single parenting and TTC. So, how do you unwind? Or de-stress?
