TWWing now! How are my fellow IVFers doing? Are you succeeding in your usual method of coping?

ETA: Here's a handy article that I also attached to the IVF thread:

Haha I'm another POAlltheS-er, so I'm no help. Although I would say that you can get a pretty definitive :bfp: or :bfn: by 7dp5dt, so if you have a late beta you can at least cut it down by testing then. If you really just don't want to test, then maybe try to find a big project at work or at home to take up a lot of your time so you can't really think about it.

I'm afraid the POA(ll the)S's approach just won't work for me. Thanks for the thoughts, though! I will wait until just before my beta to POAS, so as not to add to my OCD-like tendencies...

@jaguar: You rock it lady! I admire ladies that start peeing on sticks super early. I am a big scared-y cat, I only peed on two sticks my whole cycle. One to make sure the trigger was out and another one when I got my BFP.

I'm with Jaguar. I just started peeing on sticks very early! And at all times of day including the middle of the night. I just couldn't help myself! I have no advice but that. :)

@FliegepilzHut: Definitely find a new practitioner! Mine is specifically trained in the "German method" (??) which is an acupuncture protocol specifically meant to complement IVF/FET. She had been to my clinic for other patients previously and was familiar with the process.

@filly: That sounds like a pretty good plan! The less time I spend obsessing, the better I feel generally!

@mrswin: Thank you! That's a very sweet picture, you reciting "You Are My Sunshine." I may go ahead and do some acupuncture again, especially before...but maybe I'll look for a new practitioner. My current one is kind of strange...and seemed to not so subtly mistrust the whole IVF process (though she apparently has done some separate training in IF.). :meh:

@FliegepilzHut: I am excited for your upcoming FET, sending lots of good thoughts your way.

For me I had an acupuncture session before and after transfer (as well as throughout my stims) and those sessions helped to put me in the right frame of mind. I told myself I had done everything possible for success and every night I spent a few minutes doing a meditation/reciting "you are my sunshine". Work was also really busy and so that worked as a distraction during the wait.

I don't remember the wait after my IVF fresh cycle round but the wait after my FET, that was tougher.

I read 3 book plus watched a new tv series, ha! I wasn't working so I tried to keep myself as busy as possible and before I knew it the day arrived!!!

Good luck and I'll be thinking of you

Yeeeeeowwch! PIO after a fresh cycle! Those needles are so scary looking- I know they're not as bad as they look, but I was definitely hating all 31 of them i had to do for my frozen cycle (PIO and Del Est)!

For me, it's really only days 5-8 after the transfer that are really hard. Because before 5dp5dt, you're likely not going to see anything, and by 9dp5dt, it's likely to be either a strong positive or a definite negative, right? So really there are only three or four days where I really have to distract myself from testing if I don't want to torture myself.

@momazon: I put up with weeks (a month?!) of PIO after my fresh cycle, so hopefully that won't be too bad. :silly: I have 3...so that's probably 1 try. Do you generally try to think about what's going on inside your body (after transfer) or do you try actively not to think about it?

With a FET, at least you won't have to wait the 5 days in between the egg retrieval and the transfer! :silly: I have no advice, other than try not to test too early-- wait until you're pretty sure it will be a definite BFP or BFN, so you don't have extra days of torture wondering either way.

I normally tape up a calendar on our pantry wall with all my different meds listed for me to check off (helps as I'm taking seven doses throughout the day and it can be tough to remember) and with the beta day and home test day circled. Then at least I can cross off each day as it happens. Also, if you wait to buy pregnancy tests, you can't cheat!

I forget, how many frozens do you have? Will you have just the one FET chance, or multiple? The PIO for the FET really did make me very emotional and teary, just as a warning!

I'm still waiting...but starting to think about how to keep my head straight during my next (real) TWW, after a FET (tentatively planned for late November).

I think last time I managed to stay calm and adequately distracted for the first week or so with work, rationalization, etc...and then started to lose my mind for the few days before my first test.

Can you share any tricks or tips you use for keeping yourself cool, calm, and collected after your IVF or FET cycle/transfer?
