I was always very thin growing up (college it was more due to poor eating habits on my part) but once I hit 25 it was like my metabolism disappeared and I gained a ton of weight. I had never been over 125 (i'm 5'8) and now I can't even get under 150. No matter what I do it doesn't come off, I'm worried for what will happen after I have my baby.

I'm trying to not worry about it because I want a healthy pregnancy/baby and am not concerned about the weight I gain as long as I don't gain too much.

I was convinced I would "blow up" and not be able to lose that much weight after the baby was born. You still feel bloated and large after the birth, but you are running on adrenaline, no sleep, constantly doing something that the lbs seem to quickly come off. That and b-feeding helps a lot too. I haven't lost all the baby weight yet (LO is almost a yr old!), but at least I can fit into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes. It's something I can't change until I commit to working out, which I haven't done yet for various reasons.

But not to worry, you think the weight won't come off, but it will!! Until then, enjoy pregnancy! I always thought of it as a time to just let the gut hang out, because nobody can tell!

@mediagirl- LO is 7 months old and I intend to try nursing until she's 1. Hopefully though, with her getting older I'll be able to get away more often to work out.

I've always been pretty petite....BUT I have always worked out a lot. In pregnancy, it felt weird to really slow down on the workouts (and increase the food intake!) Generally I was feeling fine w/ my weight gain (roughtly 19 lbs at 31 wks). But, now I'm on bedrest and a lttle worried I'm gonna be a whale. Not much I can do at this point, though!

I need to lose 10 pounds. I just deal with it, but I REALLY need to start exercising so I can drop it. I'm happier and less pissy when I'm thin.

@Jennimac: so great that we have supportive husband's! My husband came to my appointments with me so I would always say my weight in front of him. Hated it! We we re both thin when we met. He has crohns so he was sick, but he had surgery and started gaining weight with me. Loved that I wasn't alone with it!

I've never been so heavy in my life and I feel awful about it. I tried to eat healthy, be more active. I haven't had the motivation to go to the gym, with a new baby and no sleep and all. Nothing really worked. I'm wondering if because I'm nursing I'm just retaining my weight, as opposed to the majority of women who lose weight due to nursning. So I decided to just feel bad about myself until I'm done nursing :(

@Jennimac: ugh, that is so tough! I have a friend just like yours who isn't married yet but wants to be married to him. It hurts me to hear him saying things to her about her weight or when she tells me what he has said to her. We should just count our blessings that we have supportive husbands. :)

I struggled with my weight my whole life - I was 11 the very first time I thought I looked "fat". The only time I felt beautiful was when I was pregnant. I gained almost 40lbs but I felt so pretty. But now? OMG, don't even get me started... :(

@mediagirl: Doesn't that make your heart melt when they are sweet and supportive like that? It does help. I have one friend who's husband will bait or bribe her with things. Like, if you lose 10 lbs, I'll let you go get this or buy this or a small trip. He is constantly on her about her weight. It makes me uncomfortable to be around and that's hard because she is one of my best friends and he is a sweet husband, just not in this area of their relationship.

@artbee: @Jennimac: having a supportive husband is SO very important. I said to my husband the other day (after buying a bra 2 sizes up and 1 cup size up), "Will you still love me even though I'm a big fat heifer?" His response, "You are not fat but even if you did gain weight, I would love you unconditionally no matter what." I think it helps that he has weight issues, as well. It's just so nice to have that supportive partner to be there for you in your down moments.

@artbee: that would be so hard! I struggle with my self esteem when it comes to my weight, but my husband helps with me too. When we went to the hosptial to be induced, I had to say my weight in front of him. I never say or show him the number at all because it's way closer to his number than I am comfortable with. When we first started dating, he actually weighed less than me and is a foot taller. He did make me laugh at one point yesterday when he said, "Ok, I know you aren't full term, but you are by far NOT the heaviest person on this floor. Not by a long shot." In a weird way, it did make me feel better. :)

I've always been thin too, until I got pregnant. I gained weight because I had to get off my meds, got pregnant and gained weight then miscarried, and then got pregnant again. I can't exercise due to migraines, so there's just no losing weight for me right now.

And so I struggle with it. My self esteem is pretty LO, but my husband does help with it. He's always telling me I'm beautiful and he's attacted to me at any weight. I just try to avoid pictures and mirrors.

I've always, always struggled with my weight, since I hit puberty. There was about a 3 year stretch where I was in a comfortable spot, though I went up and down. I actually think I triggered my gain of 40 lbs. about a year ago by dieting very restrictively before my wedding. After the wedding, I went bonkers and gained so much weight so quickly, and it's been hanging around ever since.

I always thought I struggled with weight growing up. I was heavier than my friends, but when we look back at pictures, I was really curvy and lanky. I gained weight in college, lost a lot by running and lifting weights, then gained a lot back after a death in the family. Now, I'm on a mission to get healthier. It will give me something to focus on after our miscarriage. My doctor has me on medicine for high blood pressure, so I'm wondering if I lost some weight, if that would make my blood pressure go down. I tend to gain weight around my midsection. I lose the most weight when I do cardio, lift light weights, and watch my snacking.

I'm like you, I never had a problem with my weight until pregnancy. I'm 34 weeks and have gained about 30 lbs, and honestly, it's been tough to deal with. I try to eat healthy but I also give in to my sweet cravings. I work out almost every day, and try to snack on fruits more than cookies, but that has only done so much. My plan is really to lose it via exercise and diet after LO arrives. :(

I've never had a problem with my weight. Since getting pregnant, I've gained a lot. It's not just in my belly.. Whether you gained weight from pregnancy or had general issues with gaining, how do you deal with it? Do you just accept it and try to eat healthy or are you always struggling with it?
