@Mrs. High Heels: @Freckles: I'm being a softy and keeping him home. He doesn't sleep at daycare and I think rest is really what he needs. :)

I follow daycare rules if fever, rash, diarrhea or vomiting. So far he's had respiratory viruses with fevers so he's had to stay home a lot this month. If it was a cold I'd still send him, but if he was acting absolutely miserable I'd reconsider it.

I'll send him with a runny nose but keep him home if he has a fever, diarrhea, or bad cough and congestion.

I don't send her if she has a fever, diarrhea, or is clearly miserable and stuffed up. I send her if she has a runny nose or small cough.

Fever or diarrhea she stays home. Runny nose, she goes, or I would be at work.

She goes unless she has a fever or diarrhea. Otherwise I would be home all the time.

@Freckles: I'm like that even now!

I don't send with fever and diarrhea, but I'll keep them home another day or two depending on how well/poorly they slept that night, and how they're feeling in the morning.

I used to do the fever/diarrhea rule but then she got the croup and I sent her and felt like the worst mother ever. I just thought it was a cough but it got worse really quickly after I left. Now I ask DH to make the call. Eases my mom guilt.

I was a pushover during the early years. Even if LO no longer had a fever but looked like she could use an extra day of rest, i kept her at home. I'd try and gauge how miserable she looked that morning and go from there.

M is 11 months and started daycare earlier this month. He has a horrible cold. Had a fever Monday until late morning so I followed the fever free for 24 hour rule. No fever all day today but still miserable with a constant runny nose. I'm not sure if I should send him tomorrow or not.

I already took a half day for an appointment of his that I had to cancel due to the fever. Should I just take the morning too and stay home with him? How do you decide?

Btw, he doesn't sleep at daycare at all.
