@Anagram: yeah, At some point you have to stop at the patterns BUT there are some great options that are just two colors that could probably accentuate your wall color as if just on that one wall the painter decided to throw in something extra.

@Anagram: I know the arched shape probably makes it feel a little strange, but I’d do one large piece of art that is a landscape (not portrait) orientation. i think the triptics can sometimes feel a little “look, I decorated!” Particularly if you try and arch them too. Also love the wallpaper idea but it’s hard to mix that many patterns esp when you’re retrofitting one into two others.
Your inspiration pics remind me of Kelly Wearstler’s coffee table book Moderm Glamour. Look at her vintage stuff online, it still feels fresh and inspired. I really like the website becki Owens too for ideas, even though a lot of it isn’t quite my style—have a look, I think you can search by room.

Check out Liketoknow.it.home on instagram. They have a lot of bedroom pics with stuff above the bed.
We have our ketubah above our bed. My husband is Jewish so we signed one on our wedding day. It’s nice and sometimes we read it to each other to remember the promises we made that day. It’s a nice reminder when we get caught up in the daily work/kid grind.

@looch: almost every married couple I know, the husband defers to the wife's decorating style. But all I can say is....that's not my husband. He may not care about design/decor and he may not have ever picked up a decor magazine in his life, but he's not going to let that stop him from having very strongly held opinions about it. =) =)

We are gearing up for a master bedroom redo and this is what I really want above the bed. Our bed is between two windows, straight upholstered headboard and 10 ft ceilings. We currently have a large landscape print above the bed which I hate.

@Anagram: It's straight across and we have standard 8 ft ceilings. If it were arched, I would probably not do two rectangular pieces, but instead a grouping of 5 round/oval objects. I like symmetry, so I would do one large piece in the middle flanked by two smaller pieces on each side.

I feel you on the differing styles. We have three patterns now (rug, drapery panels, rug) and my husband cant wrap his mind around the art, so I don't even ask him. I just do what I want now and he can huff and puff in silence.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I LOVE wallpaper and am really trying to convince my husband to get on board with a feature wall with wallpaper, but i should also mention we have patterned curtains and I'm about to buy a differently patterned (but coordinating) rug and my husband is already hyperventilating over mixing those two patterns and he might just die altogether if I try to introduce a third.

His "style" is like Craigslist meets college dorm and my "style" would be like these pics if I could do whatever I want. So I have to negotiate every minute detail.

I get inspiration from places like Ballard Designs or Pottery Barn. I typically browse the catalogs, but if I have a decorating dilemma, I look for furniture that fits the parameters and see what they do.

I have a similar problem, I already have a round mirror over the dresser and I do want to put something behind the bed, but I am undecided as to what. I am leaning towards two large rectangular art pieces.

Our bed is centered between two windows, so we added three “plates” in different sizes. I found the spacing to be a little tricky and plan on redoing it at some point.

Is wallpaper an option?

We have an upholstered gray headboard that is arched, and 10 foot ceilings, so there seems to be a lot of blank wall on our master bedroom. What looks good on the wall behind an arched headboard? Does anyone that has one want to show me what you did? Also feel free to post Internet images for inspiration.

I should mention I don't want a family/kids photo gallery wall since I'm making one of those in the living room.

I'm seeing 3 trends: one big object in the middle (like a sunburst mirror, but are those pretty much "over"?), a triptych (but should the 3 pieces be in a straight line or also arched to match the line of the headboard?), or nothing at all with 2 large framed pieces of art or mirrors behind each nightstand.

What to do?

Our nightstands are mirrored, if that matters.
