@duckduckkristen: allergies are rare, but intolerances aren't as rare as they used to be. My son is not allergic to anything but gets miserable with dairy and soy.

@pastemoo: cut out milk, cheese, yogurt, casein and whey from your diet. You don't necessarily have to cut soy too, I just wouldn't replace the dairy with soy (ie soy milk). Almond, rice or coconut milk are perfectly appropriate substitutions.

My LO is having the same problem and my pediatrician said its just because their digestive tracts aren't fully developed and they have a hard time relaxing the sphincter to let out the gas. I was concerned he had a dairy allergy but the ped said food allergies are very rare and the gas should go away in a couple months. She also said as long as he is pooping and there is no blood in his stools then everything is fine. Have you tried massaging the tummy?

@pastemoo: it sucks but it is ultimately worth it. I've been off milk for over a year now.

@BabyBoecksMom: Ok. He is 2.5 weeks. And I am eating very differently every day, too, but I do have cereal and milk every morning--I can cut that out and see what happens.

@brownie: I guess I can cut out milk. I eat beans sometimes (my mom made a garbanzo and lentil salad and it's still in my fridge), but haven't had the other veggies since I was still pregnant. Hopefully it's just the milk.

@pastemoo: cows milk is number 1, others are beans, broccoli and cauliflower, onions, Brussels sprouts and asparagus.

Gripe water or gas drops also may be enough but that's up to you.

@pastemoo: How old is your LO? DD was like that for about a month, and it wasn't necessarily any one thing I was eating (since I changed it up every day). I think it was just her digestive tract maturing and learning to handle all of the new foods. I would give her a bottle of breastmilk with gripe water once or twice a day, and that made all the difference. After a couple weeks, she didn't need it anymore (and I continued to eat like I normally did)

@tequiero21: Yes, he was. I have been eating so randomly and so unlike myself since he was born since we had so much company--I'm hoping that being home with just LO, me and DH when he's off work will help me eat normally again and maybe improve LO's insides. It's day 3 without company. LO is 17 days old.

@brownie: Is there a list of foods like broccoli that I should just avoid?I love veggies... so that could be the problem. 2 months is a long time to track!

Was he gassy the beginning? I'd look up on the Internet and see what foods make breastfed babies gassy. See what you r eating. Cut one food for a week and see if that helps. If not, move to another. We're having similar issues, but it's constipation. I've cut my iron pills. Cut down on cows milk.... Making progress...

It can take 2 weeks to a month for you LO to feel relief after eliminating a food. My son is milk soy protien intolerant. I ended up on a total elimination diet to diagnose it.

I personally recommend (I am not a doctor) that you pull all dairy and soy out of you diet and gassy foods (broccoli). Do that for 2 weeks. If things are better try one of those and see what happens.

You can do a food diary but I was never good at it. My son was much worse than yours as well. Good luck!

Something I'm doing or eating is just not working with LO. Every day he's gassy, and about twice a day or so he cries for an hour until it passes.

My mom said to start taking a food diary so I can cut out what ever is making him sick. How do I know what food is making him gassy? Do I just take a day and eat only soup and bread or something?
