mmmm! I have oatmeal every single morning.

I make an oatmeal flaxseed mix and microwave it with milk. Then I either add strawberries or blueberries and honey. Lately though I have been topping it with peanut or almond butter, banana and honey. :)

microwave it water and a splash of milk. Then make it either with brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon (and possibly some chopped up apple if I'm feeling not lazy), or with peanut butter and a small handful of chocolate chips.

Obviously I'm not really on the healthy breakfast train. But they are delicious :)

I microwave my oatmeal with water. Then I add cinnamon, maple syrup and chopped apples. I would add flax meal but LO is allergic to flax seeds. I'm going to start and add hemp seeds.

@lavender: I have never met anyone else who grew up with this too(!!) I just cook the oatmeal as directed, then when it's almost done I beat an egg and drizzle it in while stirring to make the egg-droppyness. Weirdly enough mine doesn't quite taste like my mom's either--her egg is a different texture.

I cook my oatmeal plain with milk. Nothing else. Then I put some in the bowl, add some brown sugar or honey, fruit and nuts (or granola), then top it off with another scoop of oatmeal. I let it sit for a bit so everything gets nice and soft and melds together.

Every single morning, I have it hot, made with water (still breastfeeding, and LO has CMPI). I usually add some combination of chopped dates, chocolate chips, and/or a spoonful of jam. Brown sugar is nice too, but I'm too lazy to make that a regular addition.

This might sound weird, but I promise it's delicious. I like to mix my oatmeal with a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese. It makes it nice and creamy, adds a little protein, and a little bit of tartness. You don't really notice any cottage cheese texture because the oatmeal has so much texture anyway. I also add a small dollop of maple syrup and mix in some fruit. I love it with blueberries!

My mom did her weird Chinese thing and mixed eggs in and a dash of sugar - like egg drop oatmeal basically. I hated it as a kid but consider it comfort food now!

Otherwise, I usually have steel cut oats soaked overnight, then I beat in an egg before cooking to make it a custardy texture (and extra protein - this is a leftover habit from when I was pregnant), plus a dash of vanilla and salt. Toppings vary but are generally a selection from fruit, nut butter/nuts, cinnamon, maple syrup.

I used to make instant oatmeal every morning when I worked at an office. I got the Complete instant oatmeal from Trader Joe's, which has no added sugar. Added hot water from the water cooler (or you can microwave) and top with dried fruit and almonds.

I love steel cut oats but it's too much to make on a weekday morning. I'm a cereal person right now, but I may have to try overnight oats when LO comes.
