45-60 minutes is a long nap at that age. They will stretch out around 6-7 months.

I used to be able to extend naps pretty easily by picking him up and holding him in the glider. But he's almost 7 months now, and his naps are still short and he fights the extension, so it only works sometimes. Arghh...

When he was 3 - 6 months old, he consistently took a 2 - 3 hour nap every morning. Those days are goooone, and I miss that long nap!!

@FaithFertility: it's only been for about a week (he took longer naps actually for 2 weeks but the first week he was sick(. First nap is the longest and they taper off as the day goes on. Usually 3 naps now first two over an hour. Its allowing me to keep him up a little longer which I think is helping. Hope it lasts!

Very normal! My son was the same. He has just started sleeping for longer at 7 months, although I wouldn't be surprised if that changed.

With T, they just had to extend on their own - and they did around 5.5 months.

With R, I think they are extending but I'm too scared to write about it :silly:

Normal. If she is happy then leave it! It will cause you more stress to try and lengthen them and it probably won't make her any happier!

I'm not worried as she seems happy as can be during the day!
So I guess she will work it out :)

Sometimes if I know she's super tired and needs a longer nap, I either go in before the 40 min mark and as soon as she stirs I pick her up and rock her back to sleep. Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't.

Don't stress and just wait for her to get a little older. It's a developmental thing.

Definitely normal for 4.5 months. It's actually when I started to be more consistent with 3 naps/day. He would take a 2 hour nap in the morning, a 45 minute nap in the afternoon and then another 30-45 minute nap in the evening.

This is totally normal for her age! Xander didn't start taking longer naps until he was firmly in the 2 naps a day camp. I wouldn't worry about it. 40 minute naps sound pretty good to me!

DD is 4.5 months
Naps are 40-45mins on the DOT??
She will never go back down and isn't cranky after so is this enough sleep for her?
She take 3-4 a day!?
