I know she meant well, but they couldn't be used.</p> <p>I have handed stuff down to my other sister in law and I was very picky about what I offered her. Nothing stained, pilled, torn. I also kept what I considered sentimental because I don't want her to feel badly about returning stuff or not.</p> <p>eta: I found in Europe though, it's different than in the US. People are more private and it's thought to be insulting if you offer your old stuff to someone else.
