@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Same! We think it's a great sign that DS used to "ask" (arms up) to go to the teachers when he arrived at daycare.

@travellingbee: Last day of ds's very first daycare class was yesterday :( We absolutely adored the teachers and can't imagine ever liking any new ones as much. But I'm sure we will ....

I was disappointed in my son's teacher last year when we got the welcome letter because she was a first year teacher and super young...so I drew conclusions that she wouldn't have her classroom set up ,wouldn't have materials, etc.

I couldn't have been more wrong and my son loved her. On top of that, she taught him how to read, so she's got a special place in my heart now.

So now, I trust the principal and his hiring decisions. He hasn't let me down yet and I hope this trend continues.

The jury is still out. It's only been two weeks in the new room. The good sign is that LO puts his arms out for the two morning teachers to pick him up. I really like this classroom because they do so many activities with the kids throughout the day.

I feel the same as you about her current daycare teachers: like them but not overly warm or intimate.

I loved her infant room teacher though. I feel she got lots of specialized attention and her infant teacher really worked with her and tried different things with her that I hadn't thought of when she was going through physical therapy for torticollis. That teacher also tended to communicate a lot more with me about her progress and make suggestions based on what she observed, but I guess there's a lot more changes going on in the infant room: mobility, introducing foods, etc.

I LOOOOVVVVEEE DD2's teachers. She's 16 mo but still in the baby room (she moves up at 18 mo). She's been there since she was three months old and the two lead teachers have been working together for six years. The main lead has been taking care of babies for 20 years. I love her so much. She gives the best hugs. And DD2 loves her.

DD1 just switched to a new room (the last before kindergarten - wah!!) and her teacher is on vacation. Seems like poor planning to me, but DD is doing great, so I'm letting it go. The teacher did make a point to stop me in the hallway to chat before the switch and make a big fuss over DD1's visits before her vacation. I'm hoping for good things.

School doesn't start for a few more weeks but I loved my son's teacher last year (kindergarten). She was extremely professional and competent. I also loved my DD's daycare teacher this past year, she was very warm and you could tell she loved her job.

We loved older DDs PreK teacher last year. Nothing bad to say about her at all, except maybe that my daughter came home pronouncing "water" the NJ way (something like wood-er). I'm a little anxious to know this year's teacher....I hope she will be as good.

Lo's in preschool and her teachers are very sweet and affectionate. Everyone is very friendly and it's a 'loving' environment. Lo is a hugger and would always hug her teachers and I could see how warmly they reciprocated. It's definitely one of the reasons we chose the school. Her teachers for next year seem just as sweet, especially one of the 2.

@Mamatimes3: Oh that's nice! We really only had one daycare teacher that we adored, that was super affectionate. But my sons have both been happy all the time.

I adored my son's pre-K teachers. They truly loved him and were affectionate giving him hugs and even saying they loved him. I knew he was safe with them.

The daycare teachers weren't like that!

I don’t have strong feelings about DD’s current teachers. They’re nice enough and DD likes them. I LOVED the teacher she was with until she moved to the toddler room. She was very warm/friendly and DD adored her.

Whether you are in a daycare or school, how do you feel about your LO's teacher? Do you love them?

I like both of my kids' teachers and think they are great with them. Both of my kids like their teachers a lot. But neither teacher is especially hug-gy or affectionate with them. And neither is especially warm with me. Not cold. Just not warm. So, I like them. But I don't adore them, if that makes sense. But I also don't feel like I have to love them for them to be great with my kids.
