Hubs doesn't swear ever. But when I'm really worked up, I sometimes swear but never AT him. If hubs ever swore AT me, I think I would cry.

My husband used to swear too until we had a talk. Now everytime he swears, I remind him that he shouldn't be using that language especially around the kids. He's made huge improvements. But yeah, the swearing really bothered me too. =\

I think there's no real "right" way to fight. But if yelling and/or swearing are upsetting to you he needs to know that. I would wait until you are well past an actual fight and then approach your husband about the things that concern you and how they make you feel. Ask him to be more sensitive to how his actions make you feel. But do give him some slack and time to adjust. I'm the yeller in our relationship and I know hubs doesn't like it. But his move is to just shut down and walk away from me when I want to work things out and sometimes that frustrates me SO MUCH that I can't help but raise my voice.

@Cchoi4: My husband uses swear words when we fight too and I don't. Honestly I think it's bc his parents swear and he probably grew up hearing them arguing and using swear words. Fortunately we don't fight a lot :) but I don't want our kids beig exposed to that...swearing in anger, etc.

DH and I got into a texting fight today. We've never done that before, this was the first.

When DH gets frustrated, most of the time he either clams up until he has cooled down or is able to inject some humor and we both cool down. But every once in a while, he is so worked up, he swears and yells.

sometimes it like "That is so !@#!@ ridiculous" but sometimes its "@#$# you!"

I really dislike this kind of fighting - the yelling, but the swearing especially. Is this normal at our age? ( I'm 31, DH is 33)

(Disclaimer - DH and I have a great relationship. We are able to talk our problems out after the cooling down part. But I would like for him to stop swearing so much. I mean, he's a father now...time to stop fighting like that right?)
