We found out first one through care.com. When she wasn't able to continue doing part time she recommended a friend who was also a nanny and happened to have two days available. It's worked it great but We did have to weed out a lot of people when we first started looking.

I found part-time nanny jobs through care.com, but I understand your husband's reluctance to use it. I've heard a lot of people don't love it. I would second trying a nanny agency. From what I've heard, they're really good. I will probably go with one if I ever decide to look for another nanny position.

We have a nanny whom we use 3 days per week. We found her through a local parenting board and did a very thorough vetting of her references and past work history.

We have now had her for almost 3 years and ADORE her. She's part of the family and thoroughly trust her with our kids.

We used a nanny agency - so the nanny had access to hours outside our family. Didn't have any personal vetting (new to the area) but did end up finding someone whose daughter worked for the company and liked them which made me feel better!

I think we need to start looking for a part-time nanny, maybe 2 days a week. I feel like it's hard to find one that will be willing to do part-time, unless they are already part time with another family. The other hard part is my husband ONLY wants to hire someone through a direct referral, like a friend or an acquaintance who has worked with the potential nanny and had a good experience. He doesn't want to hire someone that we find off a website like Care. com or ad. I posted on my Facebook the other day asking if anyone I know had referrals, but haven't gotten any leads.

How else should I go about this?
