@OldEnglandMama: Milford's not too far but I'm sure there are closer hospitals tfat are very good- mount auburn would be a but of a hike. We have tons of great hospitals in the area.

@Foodnerd81: Thank you! That's good to know. Not sure where I'll be living yet - still trying to figure that out. I'll be working in Milford so outside Boston but not far I guess? I don't know the area at all!

Through the hospital. When I transferred and met the midwives there, I learned what practice they worked with.

@OldEnglandMama: if you are in the Boston / Cambridge area, the midwives at mount auburn hospital are fantastic, FYI.

Thanks! I finally realized part of my issue is that on my side of the city there simply are very few and only two deliver at the hospital I prefer. Fingers crossed I like one!

If you know where you plan to deliver, go to the hospital's website and look by provider type (midwife) or specialty (obstetrics). That's the easiest way to find a midwife if you know where you will be delivering. If you're not decided, then maybe do the same with a few of the closest hospitals?

Initially I was lucky and there's a great group here in Portland that's well-respected. However, I got laid-off, found a new job, but have to relocate to Massachusetts :( My midwives were great though and said while I should stay with them as long as possible, when the time comes to go to the following website. It's run by the American College of Nurse Midwives and was very comprehensive and helpful (at least for my hunt in MA). Good luck!

I was lucky and there is a well known midwife practice in a local hospital (where a few others bees had their babies too!). That doesn't really help you though.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to go about finding a practice that has midwives? My insurance website lists a few individually but I am realizing they cover others who work in the office with OBs but they aren't listed separately. Googling my city and state with midwife thrown in is getting me no where fast! Even finding the names of the practices is a royal pain!
