@Pirouette: If they don't have a fever and aren't in physical pain, it probably won't help.

@Tidybee: no, he didn't, but if she's not better by tomorrow I may have to ask!

@Mae: aww 3 weeks old, she must've been so helpless! At least lo is old enough to put herself in her most comfortable position to limit the discomfort at this age.

@yoursilverlining: @ScarletBegonia: didn't think of Vicks! Thanks!

@skibobrown: we tried Tylenol, not sure it helped.

She actually didn't do so badly last night, all things considered! I'm so hoping the worst is behind her!! Thanks for all the suggestions everyone :)

I don't know why this worked so well for my son, but baby vicks slathered thick on his feet with socks over the top was the winner for us. We had the humidifier on as well. The first night of his cold though, when it was at its worst, I let him sleep on me cause he could only breathe upright.

We do baby Vicks, the Vicks humidifier, elevated head (on pillow) sleeping. When it's really bad, I hold her upright in the glider as much as possible while she sleeps on me. Sometimes we are there all night. Good luck!

In addition to the humidifier, I often caved and let my daughter co-sleep with me when she was sick. ....Then I took a ton of vitamin C and prayed I didn't get sick myself. Also, Tylenol.

My LO got a cold at 3 weeks old and it was the saddest thing ever! Saline and snot sucker before sleep, humidifier on, and sleeping elevated. All you can do really!

@Pirouette: did the doc give any kind if nebulizer? When DD had bad colds, we'd give her a nebulizer treatment about 1/2 hour before bed and it seemed to at least give her a little rest.

@BabyBoecksMom: @Mrs. Lion: we'd put the humidifier away for the summer - might be time to bust it out again!

@Tidybee: I'd totally love to nap her in the stroller, but her cough is really bad when she's in it for some reason. She really just is comfortable on her stomach.

@Revel: I just nursed her and then held her for a while before putting her down - and she's been napping almost an hour and a half! She has coughed herself awake every 10 minutes or so, but gone back down again... Success for one nap at least!!

Ugh that is so tough. I'd also make sure to do the nose Frieda right before going down. And if naps have to be upright in a stroller for a few days then so be it.

The humidifier helped us too. And naps in the car/swing when he couldn't sleep anywhere else. Hope she feels better soon!

We used saline spray and the nose frida before naps/bed and used a humidifier. We also let her nap in the swing and held her so she could get the rest she needs.

Poor lo has her first cold :( and so far she's attempted 2 naps today and keeps waking up every time she shifts positions - she keeps coughing herself awake and is rolling around so now she has snot in her hair :shocked: I elevated the mattress on one side, but she obviously doesn't like it because she keeps crawling to the bottom to sleep sideways. We tried the stroller but she couldn't stop coughing - she does better on her stomach. So...am I doomed? Any way to get a sick baby to get some rest?! :crying:
