@Foodnerd81: I thought tights might work so bought some tights for DD to wear for Christmas but they were outright rejected. Are there tights with grippy feet? If so, it might be worth it to try again. Daycare requires grippy feet.

@Corduroy: I'm not sure! I judge it based on how long we will be outside and how I feel. If it's 2 minutes and 50 degrees, I think that's safe!

@Corduroy: long shot but will she wear tights? My LO can have strong opinions on what to wear but often she starts her outfit choice with tights, then I offer dresses that match the tights. But she will refuse leggings. But I don't think she is as strong willed about it as your LO.

My LO (3) doesn't want to wear a coat. I put it on him screaming and crying and ignore his tantrum. He gets over it eventually.

@Applesandbananas: I'm totally ignorant about cold. When is it considered unsafe?

I have a boy, so no advice on dresses but with coats, I let him be cold if it's mild and just uncomfortable vs. unsafe. If it's unsafe to not wear a coat, I tell him he can wear mine or his. He has picked mine a few times, so I wear another one and wrap him up in mine. He thinks it's funny to wear my coat.

How do you get LO to bundle up?

DD is almost 3. She is in full on dress mode. Every time we leave the house she freaks out when we insist on leggings and a jacket with the dress. Saying we won't leave until she gets dressed doesn't work. She'd rather stay home and look 'perfect' in her dress without leggings and jacket. After refusing to get dressed before an activity this morning (DS & I still went) she threw such an epic tantrum that she was put in her room for nap.

This afternoon we went to see a Disney Live show. It was her Christmas present. We talked for two days about what she was going to wear: dress, leggings, rain boots, and coat. She had agreed. When the time came she refused the leggings and coat. She was in a foul mood from the morning tantrum so I didn't threaten her with missing the show since she was already saying she didn't want to go. I brought the pants and jacket thinking she would get cold on the train platform. Nope. Fifteen minutes at 50°F of so in a short sleeveless dress. I know it isn't that cold but I could see she was very cold (hugging her arms, goose bumps, very pale). Two bigger girls tried to help out and talked to LO about how beautiful her coat was and how she would be a big girl like them if she put it on. Nothing.

I'm tempted to take all her dresses away out of frustration. Ideas? Is it just not too cold for her? Kids run warm but everyone else going to the show had coats on. Most had hats and gloves too. We're in CA though and I know we overreact.
