He also likes treats, so I found a chocolate flavored toothpaste at Whole Foods that he loves. We go through ups and downs of loving and disliking it. Here is what has helped:</p> <p>- Letting him choose his brush and paste (multiple options including an electric toothbrush)<br /> - Elmo brushgin teeth song<br /> - Step stool so he can reach water<br /> - Letting him do it himself<br /> - Telling him he can't have X treat again if he doesn't brush</p> <p>Honestly I think it's a kid's demeanor that will dictate whether you can brush their teeth or not...not whether you have done things correctly, because we have and he still won't let us do it. I can't pin him down and brush them. He clamps his mouth shut and shakes his head wildly. He does the dead fish/collapse if I try to brush them while standing up.
