17 months PP, and I've been working on it, it's a little better, but still more of a "jiggle" than I have ever seen, and I can't seem to get it to go away. so gross.

I've been working out in the last month and even though I feel my ab muscles getting stronger and the flab slowwwwwly starting to tighten up, I think the only way to get rid of the extra layers of softness will be my diet.

DH and I are going to go Paleo during the lenten season to help with this extra flab. (He gained a sympathy daddy belly)

@luckypenny: good ideas, thanks! :)

@jh254: thanks!!my breastfeeding goal is one year and I'm past the ten month mark. So just this past week I have finally felt okay with cutting some calories. I'm very secure in my supply, LO is eating solids like a champ, and he's starting to drop/space out feeding sad well. And to be honest, I have used bf'ing as an exciuse to eat tons of calories, so cutting back to normal levels won't hurt :silly: I hear you on trying to squeeze in workouts during short naps - so hard!

11 months PP and I work out *all the time* and I still have weird belly mush business going on. I'm under pre-pregnancy weight, too, but my body fat is still 2% higher than it used to be, so I'm working on it. Some of it is just weird stretched out skin. It just has a weird...texture. But anyways, I'm lifting lots of heavy weights, doing cardio, and trying to follow a 40/20/20 diet. It tends to be all over the place, though.

The Embrace It Option: http://www.today.com/moms/rock-muffin-top-mom-raps-hilarious-message-body-acceptance-2D12147555

After 18 months I gave up and just got pregnant again :silly:

Seriously though- I've been working out and eating well and I just don't think that my belly will ever be the same. I had a csection though- I think having my ab muscles cut in half have made it impossible for them to ever get back to "normal".

I'm not sure if there is much you can do - I feel like its gonna happen on its own or it wont - After my 1st I tried to walk everyday but that's about it - I went to Aruba when DS was 15 months old and wore a bikini - my flat abs were back!!!

After my DD I worked out like crazy - watched my diet and here I am 3 years later and I still have a pooch - I wont ever be a in bikini again!

are there any yoga studios that do postpartum yoga near you? A few teachers at our local studio focus on postpartum body changes- I think a lot of the core stuff can also be linked to pelvic floor muscles (its alllll connected). But yeah- planks are good, a million crunches probably won't help much.

I hate strength workouts so I'm avoiding it, but I'm in the same boat- smaller than I was pre pregnancy, but at the end of the day I still look about 4 months pregnant. Its wild. I tell myself that running with the Bob will eventually help because it does engage my core muscles.

@Mrs. Sunshine: can you link to them??

@cmomma17: I am 9 mos pp and in the exact same position! But I'm worried about my supply so I can't cut any food. I think pilates is probably my best bet... but when?

I think exercise! I do a lot of ab work, especially planks and it really does help. And I'm an average eater....I don't deny myself anything good haha.

I'm only 5.5 months pp & am EBFing but lately I've been doing barre workout videos (I isually can only squeeze in about ten minutes but it's something!) & have changed my diet to at least 90% clean & I have noticed that there is so much more muscle time under the layer of pooch...I can't wait for it to start showing through!

@cmomma17: 11mo pp and same thing! stubborn belly fat and I weigh less than pre-pregnancy!! Exercise, walk more when possible, take stairs. I am doing all this in hopes of reducing the flab.

@cmomma17: you are not alone!! I'm dealing with the same thing except I'm almost 8 months pp. It's hard! As a breastfeeding mother it's not safe to cut a lot of calories or exercise intensely. There are many days I can't exercise because my little guy doesn't nap for more than 25 min. And then dieting is impossible for me because I tend to crave carbs. I have been losing lbs slowly but it's really slow... I'm looking forward to summer when I can get out my jogging stroller!!!!

But my best advise: moderate exercise, eat healthy and drink water!!! I also know I'll be able to shed the weight when I'm done bf but I'm happy with my mama belly right now because I love nursing my son more than losing weight.

Planks! Pilates. Eat less carbs. I also found that strength training overall tended to help my core.

10 months pp. Weighing a little less than my pre-preg weight. But UGH, my stomach!

I don't have hours to spend in a gym, but what can I do? I am comfortable reducing calories finally after 10 months of successful breastfeeding.

Is it hopeless? Am I destined to a mushy belly forever? :silly:
