DS loves anything that's pasta and tomato sauce. He really eats anything, but if I give him multiple options veggies always lose out. I tend to give him pasta, chicken, and veggies all mixed together in a tomatoe sauce and it's a win.

Mine doesn't love meat either - she used to but starting at 3 she just doesn't like it much. I just try to make a variety and keep offering. Like most kiddos she will eat processed meats (hot dogs and nuggets) and cured meats (ham, salami and prosciutto) but I know those are healthy for her as a primary source of protein so we just keep trying

At 4.5 she will eat

Steak - I cube it up and season it and cook in a cast iron skillet. Some days she'll eat a good amount and other days she doesn't care much for it

Dark meat chicken - she doesn't care for white meat. We'll do braised or baked chicken thighs or legs

Seafood - she loves shrimp and crab. Doesn't care for salmon but will eat some mild white fish

Oh and she'll eat eggs and sausage and bacon

Alice is not a big meat eater either. We have decent luck with wrapping things in a tortilla and calling it a taco. She will eat a couple bites of ground beef, rotisserie chicken, turkey breast, or fish that way. I also scramble eggs and put those in tortillas for egg tacos. She eats peanut butter well, so i try not to worry too much. If she tries a bite of meat at each meal I consider it a success!

Ketchup. She still won't eat most. Taco meat is the only meat that she will usually eat without a dipper.

@MrsBrewer: Ditto on the "dipping". My DS loves it and if we put a small pool of ketchup on his plate he'll eat almost anything.
I personally hate the smell of ketchup so I dread it. Lol. But it works so I deal with it. He goes straight in the tub after dinners with ketchup.

Also, balls. He'll eat any meat in ball form :-) Chicken, turkey and beef meatballs.

LO1 will not eat meat. None of it, not a bite, absolutely nothing. We saw a feeding specialist at one point and there was a nutritionist at the evaluation who told us he was getting adequate protein even without the meat. He does eat a lot of hummus and dairy and sometimes beans. I think they need less protein than you might expect.

I accidentally deleted my post when I went to edit it!

Have you tried any veggie products like veggie burgers/ hot dogs? I am a vegetarian and so is my baby. She'll eat garden veggie burgers, boiled eggs, and sometimes bean burgers. I have made a tomato pasta sauce with lentils in it and purees all the veggies and lentils and mixed it with pasta and she loved it. I have also made sauce with split yellow peas for pasta. I make a soup with either red lentils or split yellow peas, onion, sweet potato, and carrot and blend that up for me and it works in pouches as long as it is blended well. Split yellow peas have a good amount of protein and iron, and so do the green ones as I recently discovered. I wouldn't worry about protein intake because it is easily obtained from so many other foods. I would just monitor iron intake. You can also throw hemp hearts into smoothies, yoghurts, and other foods for some extra protein and iron.

Rotisserie chicken, and anything with ground beef (tacos, pasta sauce, etc) are easy wins with my LO. She won't eat many other meats, fish, pork, steak, etc. However, I'm a notorious crazy person about choking, so I don't really try to give her things like pork and steak because they stress me out.

I can't! She won't eat any meat. None. Not even a chicken nugget. She likes nuts and dairy, so she gets her protein that way. I also give her protein shakes. She's on the small side, but still a healthy weight, so... it is what it is. She's not the sort of kid who can be bribed -- stubborn doesn't begin to describe her! She would rather not eat at all than eat meat!

My 3 year old is not into meat unless it's pretty processed- like she will eat chicken nuggets ok, maybe fish sticks if I call them special Nuggets, a bite of frozen meatballs... But her weight is healthy and she eats lots of cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, so I feel like she's ok. I just keep offering and hope she will come around. @MrsBrewer: yes to ketchup! She will dip broccoli in ketchup! But then she starts just dipping her fingers and licking them and that defeats the purpose.
Meanwhile my 8 month old ate like a quarter of my hamburger the other day and loves shredded chicken.

My LO is only 14.5 mo, but for a while hated meat. Then we found out she loves "dip" so we dip each piece in ketchup....only like a tiny speck....but then she devours it! lol worth it to me!

My 2.5 year old will barely eat meat unless it's a chicken nugget, so I feel you! Can you just give her other protein options?

Or what can I substitute to make sure she's getting a well rounded diet? My almost 4-year-old has become SO picky, and won't eat a fraction of what she used to love. Mainly meat.

I can get her to eat a couple bites if I bribe her (no dessert until you eat 3 bites) etc. But I am not sure what else to do.
