The magic of television. I have nothing that matches the power of tv. It's more of a treat in our house so it's a good carrot to use.

Well, we start by waking him up almost an hour before we leave. If he's super cranky I have time to just sit and cuddle with him and after a few minutes of that I start doing silly things with his stuffed toys or I ask him to give me eskimo/butterfly kisses which he thinks are hilarious. Once he's in a half way decent mood I suggest getting up and that usually works!

Bennett is not quite 2 but he definitely does not want to get up in the mornings. Something we've found to be effective is to open his door, partially turn on his lights (they're on a dimmer) and turn off his white noise 5-10 minutes before we have to get him up - this lets him wake up more naturally to the sounds of us getting ready so we're not coming in and waking him up out of a dead sleep and trying to immediately get him moving. I also give him time - I'll pick him up but then cuddle him in the chair, talking to him. And I try to give him something that will interest him enough to wake him up a bit - usually it's a cat coming into the room to check out the action.

My 2 year old has epic tantrums when I try to wake him up. Actually sometimes he is awake and just tossing in bed, and he still gets upset at me. Lots of crying and sometimes bribery. :(

In the morning, you go in to wake up your child and they roll over, pull the covers over their head and grunt. Nope, not talking about a teenager, I'm talking about a 3 year old. How do you get your tired and cranky kid out of bed in the morning? What super powers do you use to get them up without tears?
