I have resorted to falling asleep on a mattress on the floor in lo1 room to get him to sleep... It's been progressively getting worse this week and last night was horrible. I'm in the whatever even wires deal with the fall out later phase of no sleep momma can't

@Dahlia: oh dear! Can you introduce a new friend perhaps? My daughter recently went through a phase of being awake at bedtime for an hour which was annoying, but she was calm and just stayed in bed yelling family memeber names and other random stuff happily. I didn't switch bedtime, but didn't bother to put her to bed earlier because she would still be awake until 9 if I put her to bed at 8. It lasted two weeks and then she started going back to bed in a shorter time frame again.

@Mrs. Goose: That seems to be part of the problem - she always used to sleep with her baby doll, but the last two or three weeks she's been insisting that baby has to sleep in her own bed instead of in the crib! So she doesn't have her most soothing toy. We've tried giving it to her but she gets soooo upset and says that baby needs to sleep in her own bed like a big girl!

@Boopers: Shoot, I'm sorry you're dealing with it too! I've been thinking maybe she's overtired and bedtime is too late, but like your son, no matter what time we put her down she doesn't fall asleep until later. I may try earlier again this week, and otherwise just plan to wait her out :)

No suggestions here, but my son is 29 months and very similar. It does not matter how early we start bed time, he will not fall asleep earlier than 9 unless he is beyond exhausted.

Seems like overtired and wired. That 2nd stretch of the day is a long one (between nap and bedtime). 9pm seems pretty late of a bedtime for that age and for little to no nap.

I agree maybe she is staying up too late? My nearly 23 month old stays up late, but she seems to run on longer wake times and has been that way since she was a baby. She is up for the day between 7/8 and nap is around 1:30-4 ish. Some days she just babbles and plays with her stuffed animals the whole time and won't nap. Occasionally she'll cry and not nap so I'll take her out of her room. Bed time is 8:15/8:30 and she's usually asleep by 9 after playing with her stuffies for a bit. We read her a few stories and she drinks milk and then we peace out, white noise quietly playing. She's fine being alone as long as she has specific stuffed animals in bed with her. She's in a twin bed now...switched her a few months ago.

At 2 DH would run her back until she fell asleep only took a few minutes

Maybe she is up too late?! Try bedtime earlier
Maybe 7:30 in crib at 8!

DD is 26 months. We did sleep training around 7 months and she's slept pretty consistently well since then. But for the last couple of weeks she does not want to go to bed!

For naps we put her in her crib and sometimes she'll sleep and sometimes she stays awake and talks. At bedtime she wants us to stay in the room and we do. She's happy for 15 minutes or so then starts begging to get out and cries hysterically. It's like she can't shut her mind off. Any tricks to help her calm down and go to sleep?! Thanks!

(her schedule: wake around 7:30, nap 1:30-2:30 or 3, start bedtime routine around 7:45, in the crib at 8:30, usually doesn't fall asleep until 9 or so)
