@sweetooth: Yeah I only used the infant seat when we were on a solo road trip, otherwise it was way too heavy to carry. Now she is in her convertible so it's not even an option. I think a cheapo umbrella stroller would work for you.

Also, not sure if you have the same problem, but when we are waiting in the exam room the only place to put her down is on the exam table, where of course all she wants to do is fling herself to the floor or grab all the medical equipment she can see. If you have the stroller, you can strap them in safely and be able to use both hands to fill out paperwork / find a snack in your bag / etc. And it helps to just have two spots to set her, since she gets bored in one after a while.

@sweetooth: yeah an umbrella stroller is probably your best bet! Then you can take him in and out as the situation permits.

@JerricaBenton: I usually carry him in to the appointments because the exam rooms are kind of small and it's just easier to navigate with him in my arms. But maybe I need to bring him in a stroller from now on if it's just me without my husband to hold him if I need to use the restroom.

@avivoca: My little guy is so curious and exploratory right now I feel like if I sat him on my lap in the stall it would just be impossible to take care of myself...

@Anagram: This kind of cracks me up - to think about propping up my son against the wall :)

@Foodnerd81: He's too heavy for me to tote the infant carseat around. But, I guess I should utilize that option while I still have it.

Maybe I need to get an umbrella stroller...something with a smaller footprint than my Britax B-Agile.

I always have my umbrella stroller in these situstions although I have propper her standing against a wall a couple of times or given her toilet paper to wave....but public bathrooms are gross so I much prefer to have the umbrella stroller.

It seems like the only options are car seat, stroller, baby wearing, or sitting on your lap. I've done all of those! :silly:

Baby wear, infant carrier, or stroller when they're little. Stroller or standing with me in the stall now that she's walking. I never just carried her into an appointment or store before she was walking because I always felt like I'd eventually need both hands!

I usually bring a stroller for this reason. Or when she was younger, the infant car seat. (This applies to solo road trips too, even though I felt bad putting the infant seat on the ground in a rest stop bathroom). I have peed with her in the front carrier but it's not ideal-- her legs are getting long!

I always use the handicapped stall so there is room for the stroller.

She goes with me. If I'm not wearing her, I usually have to sit her on my lap while I take care of business.

Baby wearing would probably work! That or bringing a stroller or bassinet with you.

Ok, so this feels like the silliest question to ask, but I'm curious how you all handle this. In the past several weeks I have had this happen to me a few times. Maybe I just need to be better about planning, but you know how it goes. Oftentimes the baby is on the brain first, and your own needs fall second.

I've had a few doctor's appointments in the past month where it's just me and my little guy. I try to use the restroom before I go, but sometimes I still need to go. So, when your little one is at an age where you carry them in to a dr. appointment, and you don't have any other hands to hand him off to, how do you relieve your own bladder? My little one is 9.5 months old and most of the time I just have to rush home and take care of myself. But I don't think I'll always be that lucky.

How do you handle this one? Do I just need to be better about bringing in a stroller? And taking him in to the bathroom with me?
