So, I either did small trips with him in the basket or stroller. Otherwise, I did larger trips with DH, so one had the stroller and one had the cart. For bigger trips I put the carseat in the top of the cart (where an older child normally sits) right in front of my face and used the rest of the cart to hold the groceries. Our supermarket has carts that you can use for infants. They have a reclining seat so that is useful. Now my favorite carrier for grocery shopping is the maya ring sling - it has allowed him to take naps while we're out.
