Our "formal" dining room table? I always keep a table runner and some candles and tray on it. Currently? It has the Sunday newspaper spread all around and the end always houses my diaper bag. I've never kept it set with place-mats and napkins, but it does sound lovely to do so!

Does cluttered with junk count? No? It should. Otherwise, bare. I try to keep it clean but it is just such a convenient shelf!

Let's see... it has the baby carrier, the papers from Xander's last well-visit, baby clothes I haven't put away yet, mail I haven't gone through yet, a picture frame I haven't hung yet, some blankets I took out to go through and haven't put away yet, and random other junk.

Half of it houses my laptop and the other half is a make-shift aircraft carrier. This is fairly SOP in our house!

(I think we're talking about a formal dining room table? ;) We don't have one, but our all-purpose kitchen table currently has my laptop; some sunglasses; the salt shaker; a small fleet of F-16s, Nighthawks, and F-4s; and a cup of lukewarm coffee on it... Guess I need to get off my duff and clean it up!)

ETA: The pilot is on his enforced rest period at the moment.

@cheesetomywhine: You're not the odd one out! We have cork place mats and a vase with fake flowers in the middle...but there's also a bunch of clutter on it at the moment. Off the top of my head I know there are stamps, old mail, a pad of paper, and picture hangers on it right now...

I am the odd one out. The half we don't use has random clutter on it. There is a tablecloth and centerpiece though one would assume the centerpiece is just more clutter. Domestic failure here.

Since our dining room table is our only eating table, it isn't fully decorated with place setting. I mix it up, sometimes a runner with candles, or centerpiece, then I have different place mats and napkins that I rotate in.

I have a table runner, candlesticks in holders, and a centerpiece of a vase holding my wedding bouquet (I handmade it out of felt flowers and it makes me smile to see it every day!). We almost never eat there, soo it stays pretty nice.

Set for a feast? With place mats, linens, silverware, water goblets, China and chargers?

Or is it bare? Just table or maybe cloth and centerpiece?
