Balaclava. They are good. You can rob banks, and also stay toasty. ;) I really like the Polarn O. Pyret ones that are wool for a light, breathable, but really warm layer. It also helps keep cold off the neck. They are just awesome. You can pull as much or as little over the face as you need/want. Ellie is wearing hers in this picture, but neither of our kids seem to think that cold applies directly to them, so they mostly leave them down or just covering the chin.

@mrbee: they make fun masks! spiderman seems to be a popular one. they do keep faces so much warmer & you don't have to worry about a scarf getting caught & choking them (i'm completely insane & paranoid about coking, i'm sure most kids are fine with a scarf!)

@mrbee: hahaha I had to laugh "like the ones that people use to rob banks" hilarious!

Do they make kid size ones? I think that would be a good idea!

This morning, my five year old kept on mentioning that his face was cold. I tried to button up his parka hood to protect his mouth area, but I had layered on a hooded sweatshirt under the parka, and there wasn't enough room to button up his parka hood too!

Thought about getting a ski mask, like the ones that people use to rob banks... but that seems a bit like overkill. Maybe we could get a really thick scarf and wrap that around his neck and face?

It feels like there must be a simple solution but I can't think of it - so thought I'd ask! How do you keep your LO's face warm when it's extremely cold out?
