I am studying for a Montessori certificate. I figure it's good for my mental stimulation and also for doing stuff with LO.

@Rubies, I can't do ANYTHING when breastfeeding. She is soo easily distracted and curious that even if I talk to her she'll stop eating to watch me and talk to me. So putting the tv on is not an option and I need to hold her with 2 hands while feeding otherwise she wriggles out of position, so holding a book is impossible! I guess I need to resort to reading in the evenings after she's down for the night!

I read. I also do random things, like take a new way home, or go through the grocery store backwards, change my morning routine up, etc. Just little things that keep me from doing stuff without actually thinking about it (I swear I could drive home with my eyes closed!).

I don't. I'm way too tired for that. My free time (when my LO goes to bed) is spent relaxing, playing online, and watching tv. Maybe when she grows up a little....

I feel the same way. While I'm breastfeeding, I'll try to read. I watch JEOPARDY and WHEEL OF FORTUNE and honestly, it helps! Thinking on the spot...Solving word problems...Try it!

Have you tried auditing online classes? Several large universities and colleges offer online courses that you can audit. MIT is the most well known that I have used. Some of the professors allow you to contact their TAs to look at your work and tell you how you did.
There are also alot of challenging blogs out there. I read one that is a Hebrew Language professor and when I first started reading it I realized how much Hebrew I had forgotten. He is always thought provoking and encourages questions and always answers. So maybe you can find one that challenges you in whatever you like.

Funny that you posted this! I was telling my sister earlier today that I wanted to get some SAT or standardized test prep materials to keep my mind sharp and stimulated. HAHA.

My 4 month old keeps me busy everyday, but sometimes I find myself yearning for good mental stimulation that doesn't involve baby talk or nursery rhymes. Although I don't miss being at work, I do miss the challenges that my job had to offer. How do you keep your mind stimulated, especially on only a few hours sleep?!
