I usually ask my friends first and if it's not a common problem, I'll call my OB. I also just go with my gut instinct. Like last night, I was having major braxton hicks so I called my OB this morning. The nurse said as long as it's not constant and consistent, it sounds normal. I always feel so much better after talking to the nurse. I say if it's something that you keep thinking about or that worries you a lot, just call... for peace of mind! Doesn't hurt!

I just call and speak to a nurse whenever I have a concern, no matter how small. Then they tell me whether or not I should come in. Usually they say to come in and get checked just in case, and it's always better safe than sorry. I've never regretted going in, even when I end up at the hospital getting checked by the OB on call because it's after hours.

Well that's good to know. I just have this weird feeling. I figure I'll give them a call in the morning...even if they make me feel like I am a crazy? I don't even really know what I should ask...like "Hi, this is how I feel, and I don't know if it's normal or not? Tell me what to do!"

I mostly just go with a gut feeling. If I have even a tiny voice in my head telling maybe this isn't right.. I call. I pay for their care so even if they sound annoyed I don't care. It's my first pregnancy too (besides my early miscarriage) so how am I supposed to know what's normal?! I will say though I avoid calling after hours and wait for the office to open. The only time I called after hours was when I was vomiting bile in the middle of the night and it was the right decision because my doc sent me right to the ER for IV fluids.

I bet that OB's get ton's of phone calls from pregnant women with all kinds of ailments. How do you know when to call your doctor? It's my first pregnancy, so I always wonder if the hurt I feel is normal or not normal. Lately (31 weeks tomorrow), I've been feeling way more back pain, different than earlier in my pregnancy, and pains on my sides that come and go sporadically. Oh, and my ankles and legs have EXPLODED lately.

DH and MIL are insistent that I should call doctor, but I'm kind of dismissing as coming with territory. How often did you call your doctor's office and if you did call, how did you make that decision? (I guess other than obvious stuff like bleeding, etc.)
