I have everything hung up because I HATE pulling clothes out of drawers. Ridiculous, I know. I have them grouped by size, left to right, small to big (from NB to 6 month). Bigger clothes go in tubs on the floor of the closet.

In the changing table, I have more bins. The table has two doors with 4 shelves. One has socks, one has sheets and swaddles, and the other two have diapers and diaper stuff.

I also wash velcros separately. Her bibs and swaddles stick to EVERYTHING. I hate it. Hate hate hate.

We have an Elfa system in her closet. Almost everything is hung by size and style. I also have a few drawers and baskets/bins in there for non-hanging items.

In her dresser/changing table drawers, I keep all her diapering and sleeping essentials. I keep one drawer with current sleepers and basics in rotation. That's the easiest to grab and go. Nice pieces are still hung. I think girls have more hanging clothes though?
As for size, I tried to eyeball them and keep them grouped by actual size and not always what the label says. I.e. All her Ralph Lauren stuff looks so small and always in a size group smaller.
I also use a lot of mesh laundry bags for baby laundry. I wash everything that has Velcro in a laundry bag because I don't want them snagging anything (esp A&A stuff). And I always flow all snaps.

@Foodnerd81: exactly! We don't even have the drawer organized. We basically just pull out either short or long sleeves and call it a day :)

@aprk: Yeah it seems (to a not yet a mom) that having the basics in the dresser/changer would be easier-- can grab things while baby is on the changing pad, as opposed to having to get it before from the closet? Plus... the closet in there is pretty full with our stuff already, even though it's the baby's room :)

@Crumbs: I was just at Ikea and totally should have stocked up on drawer dividers. We have to go back soon enough anyway...

We had everything all separated in the closet, but now we just have a drawer full of all the clothes in his current siZe. So much easier since his changing pad is on top of the dresser. Just grab something and throw it on.

All of her current sizes are in our dresser inside Ikea dresser dividers in our room (since her crib is outside our door). All other sizes are in her dresser in her room according to size. We bought her a huge dresser with a lot of drawers since that room has limited closet space. Her current size dresses are hung up in our closet.

When we move her into her own room, I'm also moving most of her clothes in there.

Also, to add to this--I found that I organized things one way but then completely changed it around when LO was born and I figured out how I actually needed things to be laid out. Right now, we have his current size and the next size up in his dresser (his summer stuff is all 6-9/12 months, so I keep it out as the weather is getting warmer, and his 3-6 month s tuff is pretty tight but we're still having some colder days and he doesn't have any long sleeved bigger clothes). I have it organized by short sleeves, long sleeves, leggings/footie pants, and pants (jeans, cargo pants, etc). We use boxes within the drawers to separate things. In the closet, I hung all his sleepers, and button down shirts, and I have a hanging closet organizer thingie with fabric shelves where I keep the next sizes up (12-18 months, etc).

I'm planning on mostly drawers and a bit of closet space (it's tiny!). But I've been freaked about sizes (and sizing within those sizes) as well. It's nagging at me all the time, I should just go deal with it. Will follow this thread for tips and let you know if I come up with something brilliant! Hahah.

I have received a whole bunch of hand me down baby clothes in sizes NB to a year or more (mostly smaller, mostly gender neutral). I'm starting to get them all washed and ready to go, but I'm at a loss of the best way to organize them. I'd rather use drawers than hangers, but that's about the only thing I know right now.

Tell or show me your system! Do you use drawer dividers (like the kind that would organize socks and bras for adults)? Boxes within drawers? Also, how did you deal with the various sizes within a size-- like some 3-6 months onesies are definitely smaller than other 0-3....

As a small side note, baby clothes are loud in the dryer! All those snaps!
