I prefer real books. I read lots of free books on my kindle (and love it), but if I want to read a book that I'm going to spend money on, I buy the paper copy.

I got a kindle when they first came out because I was living abroad and I couldn't get English books at reasonable prices. I bring it on vacation with me now, I usually have at least 3 books going at the same time, so it's convenient for that purpose.

I prefer real books!!!

BUT I am excited about Amazon's Kindle MatchBook and once that rolls out, I think I might actually ask for a Kindle. Bringing a Kindle when I travel (or at work when I pump) would definitely more convenient than having to lug around real books!

I love my kindle! I can hold it one handed, read at night without turning on a light and borrow books from the library without going there. It's also light and I don't have to worry about storing all my books. I don't like reading on my iPad though. The lighting bothers me.

I definitely prefer paper books but I had so many I actually had to purge because I had NO room in my office space.

I'm a grad student, so I mostly read for school. I much, much, much prefer paper for those--I highlight, write in the margins, flag pages, need to flip between sections and the notes in the back of the book, etc. I've tried to read some academic books on my ipad and it just doesn't work for me.

with novels/fun books though, I prefer an e-reader, mostly because I own SO many books for work that I don't have the physical space in my apt anymore! especially now that we're making room for a nursery--I did a major, major book purge recently.

I had a kindle but sold it because I never used it. I 100% prefer real books. It's also cheaper for me to read real books because I always buy used. The main plus to an ereader, imo, is its lighter to hold.

Same as @stine_ciro: I was sure I would hate it- since I love paper books so much, but my husband got me a Kindle for Christmas- best gift ever! I use the app on my phone a lot too if C falls asleep in the car when we are out and about or at night when the lights are off.

I still re-read my books, and storing them is so much easier since I rarely get rid of books I love.

I definitely prefer paper books. But where we live now it is difficult and expensive to find English or French language books without having to order them, so I have been using my iPad more frequently. I don't like that you can't resell/share books, but they do take up way less space.

I thought I would hate e-readers and didn't want one at all, but was gifted a kindle (1st generation - so no ads!) and love it. It is so convenient and I don't have to pack paper books for our trips anymore. (I used to pack 4-5 books for our 2 week trip to Colombia every year.) I had a hard time getting used to the feel of holding kindle until I got a fold-over case that made it a little more substantial in my hand, so I would definitely recommend getting a case.

DH uses the kindle app on his iPad, but I really hate reading on it because of the glare.

I also have a friend who gave me +700 books that had been converted to PDF, so I have rarely bought books in the 4 years I have had the kindle. Since they were not through the Amazon site, the quality of the books is sometimes a little off, but it doesn't bother me.

I'm an avid reader and much prefer "real" books. The iPad has certainly come in handy during feedings so I can play candy crush and surf Hellobee.

I prefer paper books best, but sometimes the convenience of an e reader sure is nice. I sync them between my iPhone and ipad so if I ever get bored I can just pick back up on my iPhone. I just need to be more consistent about buying books solely on my ipad.

I have had a Kindle for the past 3 years, and it is just so convenient. Besides the obvious plus of being able to have access to multiple books for a trip or commute, and downloading books instantly, I like not having to keep the book propped open. It makes it much easier for reading the book in bed (while drinking tea or something), while nursing, and on my lunch break at work. I prefer the Kindle to reading on my iPad because of the backlight on the ipad.

I prefer the feel if paper books too, but the convenience of a kindle wins out usually. Especially while commuting the kindle was so much better, and now it's easier for nursing as well. But something really important like Harry Potter I'd still buy the paper.

I thought I wouldn't like ebooks, but I had a really long flight coming up so bought the kindle so I could carry on a whole bunch of books and really love it. The one thing I don't like is you can't really share books for the most part, but they also don't take up space on your shelves.
