Pigtails all the way! My daughter's hair is fine and curls in the humidity so we use packs of tiny gummy elastics from Daiso -(almost like the kind that go on braces)- they stay in really well.

She's 18 months old and mostly leaves her hair doodads alone - I started in with them really early at the advice of my MIL hoping she would just get used to them.

@mrbee: Just saw this post. I've started using a boar-bristle brush since K's hair has gotten longer and more tangled. It really helps get the knots out gently and keeps her hair shiny! If it's crazy bed-head, I use some California Baby detangler spray and brush it out.

LO is only 2 months old but she has super long crazy hair. I use Noodle & Boo hair polish to freshen it up after naps if we are going out & it works really well... I have started using it on my own hair! I have noticed a few little tangles that I just get out with my fingers. Her hair is very textured so it looks better if I don't comb or brush it.

No daughter here, plus my boy is a total baldy, but while babysitting my little girl cousins, I was introduced to The Wet Brush:
http://www.amazon.com/Brush-Detangling-Shower-Colors-Vary/dp/B000L596FE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387085378&sr=8-2&keywords=tangle+free+brush+for+kids

It's cheap, works without any detangler, and is super gentle on sensitive heads. I love it for myself too!

My LO is 25 months and has a lot of hair. I sit her on my vanity and wet a comb with water from the faucet and then comb it through her hair. Then I usually clip the front of her hair to the side and use the comb to put her hair in a low ponytail. If I'm feeling ambitious Ill braid her hair but that is rare

@T-Mom: we love our Knot Genie! I sort of want 3 of them, since right now all 3 of us use the same one.

I brush their hair and then do a hairstyle... just a clip or different ponytails if in a hurry (classic, low at the nape, or half-up/half-down), or if we have time, pigtails, buns, or braids!

3. Comb & part
4. Pigtails, pony, or bow

I do her hair every day. I think that's helped her get more tolerant of me working the snarls out. Her hair is wavy and gets extreme bedhead.

Right now I just deal with the tangles every morning. Finger combing wet hair, detangler, and then run a comb through. When her hair is longer I will put it in braids or twists. @MsMamaBear: I can't wait until her hair is long enough to braid, right now her hair is so uneven since she lost a bunch of it on the sides and in the back so we can only braid certain sections. In the future when her hair is longer we will put her hair in protective styles to help with the tangles.

I just comb it using a baby brush (we have the skip hop set). Her hair is super fine so it doesn't get many tangles. If she will let me, I'll put it in pigtails but usually she won't sit still long enough (she's 21 months).

I plait it at night so that helps with tangles. I full out comb it every morning! A little water, comb and Miss Jessie's get it done. I get SO tired of it, I got excited when my mom finally braided it.

Olive's hair seems to accumulate tangles while she sleeps. I sometimes run my fingers through her hair in the morning (after wetting them a bit)... it helps a bit. But should I be brushing her hair or using leave in conditioner or something?

I feel kind bad sending Olive to school with her hair all funky from sleeping on it. How do you prep your daughter's hair in the morning?
