Sometimes he will play on his own, but it's rare. Most of the time he's in the kitchen with me playing with pots, pans, tupperware, etc. If I know I'll be opening the oven a lot, I will put on a video for him so that at least keeps him away.

She plays in the kitchen, helps me cook, roams around and plays with things in other rooms. If I'm especially overwhelmed I'll put on tv for her, but rarely.

@MamaMoose: This exactly.

There is no solo-playing with my 15 month old. It's all whining and "up, up, UP!" all the time. Ugh. Can you tell we're having a rough month? :sad:

He plays in the kitchen or in the high chair with a snack or dinner while I prep! or DH plays with him if he's home!

@MamaMoose: Pretty much.

I can usually get 5 minutes where he'll watch tv or play with some toys, but for the most part, he "helps." I don't mind most of the time, especially because he listens well in the kitchen because he knows I'm serious, but there are days where everything take twice as long. I taught him to use the Keurig, though, so often times that will suffice his interest and then he'll just watch.

Ummmm keep saying "mommy will pick you up soon" while you try not to drop hot food on her because she is clinging to your legs while you stand over the stove. It's so fun!!

It is very difficult! I try to do prep work while she's napping so I can just put something in the oven or finish up quickly while she's awake. Slow-cooker meals are my go-to!

We usually tag team. One of us cooks while the other entertains. If I'm home by myself DS either plays independently or sits in his high chair with a snack or toy.
