Um, we don't? We just try to pick them up once a day. Thankfully DH has finally convinced our two year old that putting the pieces back in the box and yelling BAM! is fun.

We have a small plastic rolling bin that we keep all the lego sets in. So far we've been able to keep everything organized with shoe boxes and shoe box tops, and everything kinda just stacks inside. But I know that as his collection grows, that will probably change!

@Mrs. Train: You constantly amaze me. I'ma have to go and find me some bins now.

Currently, it's a free for all on the train-turned-lego table. It drives me INSANE. However, I have a feeling I will soon be taking up Mrs.Trains approach. Their closet needs to be emptied of the toys they don't play with anyway, and this would be perfect.

Maybe I can get rid of the train table sooner than I thought. Muahahaha.

For the last year I have been battling Lego pieces. I am in the process of organizing things but I am not done. For a while I just had a big box and everything went together. Then they started getting frustrated and throwing fits when I could not find or rebuild the particular set they wanted. So now as we get them I try to organize them. We got these bins at Target for 99 cents. I put as many sets as I can fit into one box with the directions and extra pieces and I tape a picture of it on the front of the box. While they are building and playing the pieces still get all over the place but at least when its clean up time I can figure out where the pieces go. And even if they are still working on it I can t least put it in the little box and they can get it out easily again.

@mrs. bird: Very cool!! There's no room for something like this now, but we're looking into a new bed for him and maybe we could add it then. Love that it would save space... while also creating a place for in-progress projects!

does Charlie have anything under his bed? I've seen people do pull out Lego stations under beds.

Here's a random pic of what I'm talking about

We have a gazillion lego blocks too!!

For the sets if DS is working on one and we need to put it away we just use Ziploc bags and the in-work creation goes on the shelf where DD cant get to it.

We also have a lego storage bin and tray sorters inside

Our son just turned 5 and got a number of LEGO sets for his birthday! They're awesome and I love that he is super into them... but the tiny LEGO pieces get everywhere, and that gets old pretty fast!

In a perfect world, he'd have a table he could use to keep the LEGO set he's building... but we don't have room for that right now. So he builds them on the floor and when we ask that he put the LEGO set away, he makes the totally valid point that he's building it right now and doesn't want to put it away before he's done.

How do you prevent LEGO pieces from getting everywhere? Did you eventually break down and set up a LEGO table - or is there another easy solution that I'm missing?
