Gray-ahm. But only since i dated someone with that name and his mom was British and he insisted Gram was wrong and would get upset if i pronounced his name wrong! Before that i used to say Gram.

I say gram, because I'm American and that's how we say it, but every time I have ever had to say the name in Australia or the UK, I have been made fun of beyond belief! DH and several of my English friends regularly tease me about it. I am working on saying Gray-um but it still sounds so awkward so I try to avoid saying it as much as possible!

I have a friend who lives in Australia, and her dad's name was Graeme-it was the first time I'd heard it pronounced Gray-em instead of like the cracker. However, friends of ours in Chicago refer to their Graham as Gray-em...even though we all call him Gram (like the cracker). Very interesting!

@PurplePeony: I was going to say exactly the same. I definitely don't say it Gram, but nothing as obvious as the pronunciation in the video. It's just like a subtle e sound before the am.

I think I pronounce it somewhere in between -- sort of like gram but with a soft double syllable. So, gra-am where the dash is just a very quick break in the "a" sound...if that makes sense.

I just realized dh's English grandmother says gram just fine- though she has lived in the us for 50 years or so.

I like both pronunciations so it wouldn't bother me in this case, that people might pronounce it wrong. I love the name, but it's already taken in our family.
