I'm a one pump gal too! It's not so bad, but then again I never tried the double.

Since I only feed my baby from one side at a time, I pump the same way (single side). I'm still able to get at letdown without stimulating the other side. If I need to pump both sides and I only have one valve, I pump one side completely and then start again on the other side. A total PITA, but it's better than teasing both sides (aka, alternating back and forth).

I'm a single pump gal, but I only pump a couple times a week, so for me it is no big deal, and it also makes sense for me because when I BF LO, I only do one side at a time, so I pump the side that was not just emptied.

I have a double electric pump but never liked pumping both sides at once. I hated my pumping bra, and using it at work meant getting undressed from the waist up, so I always just pumped one side at a time so I had a free hand.

I'm sure I lost some milk, but I think I was just used to it, so I'd have a separate let down from each breast. There was one time that I forgot my pump parts and had to run to the store to buy a manual pump. Ugl, that sucked, especially because I really needed bigger cups than come standard on pumps.

I forgot one of my valves today -don't know how- so basically I was pumping single.
It's hard!!!

The double helps encourage letdown for the other boob. Now my left boob is a little engorged because I didn't have enough time to sit there and wait for a letdown so I just kept alternating. Only got half my normal output.

Time to buy a spare part kit for the office...
