We've had the same routine since she was 4 months old with us just sticking her in the crib and leaving. We ordered her bed a while ago but we are still waiting for it. She keeps asking for a big girl bed so I hope the transition goes OK.

Ever since DS was 18 months--he was so easy to put to bed! We always have a bath, story, drink of water and prayers then he cuddles up with blankets and I have to turn on a lullaby CD and he is out! He's 3 now and we've stuck with that routine because of the transition to a toddler bed, then his sister was born and soon we'll need to transition him into a twin bed. DD is now in his room too and she seems to like the story/lullaby time as well. Oh, and the door is always open and a night light is on.

Do you stay in bed with them until they fall asleep or do you leave the room and they fall asleep on their own?

For some time, we actually put Mavrick to bed, said night night, closed the light and door and he fell asleep. It was pretty sweet. Then when Sienna arrived, we had to sleep with him in bed until he fell asleep. We broke the habit, but after his hospitalization it started up again. Now, we put him to bed, close the light but leave the door WIDE open. It takes him about 15 mins and he's out. Then we close the door. I really like this option.
