She likes to tell everything night-night, so we tell the bed, our cats, the news (I don't know where she gets this....) at 7:50, we jump into her bed. literally. We pick her up and pretend bounce her. It always makes her giggle & she flies into her bed! Then we read Horton Hears a Who. Sometimes she'll request another book, so we read that too. We chat and act silly while I lotion her and put her in her pj's, then SO will give her a little chase to her room before she kisses him goodnight and closes the door. We read about 3-4 books, turn on the white noise, turn off the lights and I tuck her in. I usually have to re-tuck her in after 5 minutes because she is very particular and has to find juuuuuust the right position to sleep in. She's been falling asleep just after 8 and I leave the room after she's drifted off. I always wanted to let her fall asleep on her own but I've been emotional about her growing up so fast, so I relish the 10 minutes of watching her slowly drift into dreamland. She also likes the reassurance that I am there. On the nights he doesn't, I just dress him, brush his teeth, turn on the night light and say goodnight. I think she is exhausted from playing at daycare or going to the park, etc! @luckypenny: I use children's floss sticks from Target and it isn't as bad as I imagined! I had to hold her down the first two weeks but it doesn't bother her anymore. He then helps put away the book, takes one of us by the hand and we walk to his room calling, "night, night, love you" to the other parent. Pick him up for a snuggly hug, put him in his bed, turn on Scout to bedtime music, turn on the crib entertainer, hand him a couple Little People toy cars to hold while falling asleep, lay him down, blow a few kisses and good nights, and walk out. Sometimes I have to go back in a time or two (once and a while we have a do-over if he isn't quite ready yet) but not much any more since we've found he likes the control of walking to his room instead of carrying him kicking and screaming. Read books and then turn on fan (white noise) and lights out at 7:30. Hold for one lullabye and turn on music machine. place in crib and leave the room (cry it out in moderation if necessary when back from travel or after illness). If she does cry, it's only for a minute or so. If she cries longer than a couple minutes, or if she sounds particularly upset, I go back in and hold/sing/rock her longer. Tonight was pretty bad - she went down as usual at 730 but woke up crying and super upset about :20 later. I think she may have had a nightmare. I seriously can barely brush his teeth for 5 seconds every night. And that's a success. 5 seconds. For us: almost 22 months Our naptime is roughly 1-3pm on weekdays (daycare). 1-4pm on weekends. 5:35pm dinner + mommy clean dishes from daycare ...etc 6:10pm play time while mommy finishes cleaning 6:30pm set bath water 6:35pm "Potty sitting" and reading potty books 6:45pm Bath 7:00pm Get dressed and diapered 7:05pm Storytime (which he really just runs around the whole time these days) Put in bed by 7:30pm. Lights out *Teeth brushing usually happens at bath, or like recently it happens after bath before storytime. She gets a bath around 7PM, then we do teeth brushing and lotion. We put on her PJs and sleep sack and she gets to pick anywhere between 3 - 5 books to read (depending on how tired she is). After the books, we turn off the lights, turn on the sleep machine, and we sing her a few songs before putting her in the crib.
