So DD seems to be doing a little better with bottle. At least there is no crying and minimal fussing. DH feeds her while she sits by herself on a lounger. We're using Avent Natural bottles now but I just ordered new nipples since the ones that come with the bottle are for nb and probably flowing a little too slow... She eats like .5 oz per maybe 5+ minutes. But my letdown is not fast either so I think we're okay...

DH has been giving one every day and it seems to be getting easier every time. Sitting in the bouncy chair while he drinks it seems to be key, though. He really fights it if DH is holding him.

J's main issue was that he was choking and sputtering on the milk because he wasn't used to the bottle flow. Is K doing this or straight out refusing?

@Pirouette: haha so specific! But whatever works! And it must have been tough to see her hungry for a day

@Adira: huh.. That is possible. I ended up kinda footballing her so that she lays on the same side she would on the other boob and she took it! But its just once so I need to do it again too.

@FaithFertility: yes that's what I just tried last and it worked! It's like a lazy football haha!

And back to the bottle issue.. I have an avent bottle laying around and she seems to like it more than the medela. She did eat better not being held, she just took maybe 0.5 oz so we need to keep trying! I'm smarter now only thawing 1 oz at a time so I don't waste so much.

@snowjewelz: do you have a boppy?? I put that on my side and lay G on the side like the football hold, but the boppy is supporting her I put my hand under her head.....it is her favorite way...
easy to latch

@snowjewelz: I wonder if maybe she has an ear infection or something that might be causing her discomfort when she lays on that side and that's why she's having trouble nursing from that one side?? I don't really know though. :(

the only way to get her to take it again was for me to actually go back to work. she had a one-day strike and then realized she was hungry! also, for a while she would only eat in the RNP or if she was held, she had to face out and look out the window (so not similar to a nursing position).

@Adira: everything is normal so far. And she seems to HATE my left boob with a passion. She will eat from my right. It's so hard to position her now! I feel like I can't get the football right!

@Foodnerd81: Same thing for DD..she doesn't take a bottle when being held but will take it in her bouncer or RnP. Our nanny has been able to give it to her once or twice while holding her but she still much prefers not being held. Other things that helped were using a smaller nipple and a bottle warmer. DD is 4 m and still using a preemie nipple (despite not being a preemie) and we use the Dr. Browns bottle warmer.

@snowjewelz: What position do you usually nurse in? Maybe try a different one? I've had to start doig the football hold lately because Xander has been fussing like crazy when I try to nurse him. How are K's poopy diapers? Normal? Or anything to indicate maybe she has an allergy or intolerance to something? Is she still having plenty wet diapers? Sorry you are dealing with this.

@Adira: hehe sorry to get you all freaked out!

Sigh on top of the bottle fight she seems to be on a nursing strike too :( sometimes she starts crying even getting into position. She would scream and not latch, I try repositon, burp, etc.. I left a msg with the LC, Im afraid she is now not eating enough! She has been spitting up more than normal too.

Just to clarify, are you feeding her the bottle? I can't give my DD a bottle, she just won't take it from me. We joke that she only wants it straight from the tap if I'm around. DH gives it to her while I'm upstairs or out of the house. Maybe getting someone else to give it a try would help?

Around 2 months, dd started freaking out about the bottle, and the first day of daycare she had trouble latching. But she did eventually calm down, and went back to taking it like a champ.

@Adira: hopefully Logan won't have issues! I read that as they older they start to notice the difference and therefore the sudden refusal.

I'm going to first pick s feeding, feed 2 side and then try the bottle. These last 2 times she was supposed to be hungry bc she had just woken up, but she still fought the bottle.

When c started refusing bottles, what finally worked was feeding her NOT in anyone's arms. So having her in the rock and play or car seat worked, but someone cradling her would not. But, she never really took a lot of bottles anyway since I was almost always with her.

DH has had some success giving him bottles today and yesterday but he's had to be very patient and very persistent. Even feeding him while also bouncing on the yoga ball just to soothe him :bummed: We're definitely going to be doing it every day for the foreseeable future!
