@Megwag that is so neat! I take classes to challenge myself and build some creativity. Right now I am taking a French class and then we will all go to France with the brood. My husband said he refuses to order anything or get a taxi so that I can show off haha :) I like taking art classes as well and going to the museum with Liam.

I recharge my creativity when I get to plan an event. Half the fun is researching the endless possibilities. Taking art/craft classes also does the trick.....or just watching decorating/cooking/diy shows on TV.

I write creatively and I feel like I have to be home alone to be able to work. Otherwise I get self conscious.

Usually I need to get out and go to an art festival. We have a great one twice a year in Tempe that I always have to go to- I have so many ideas and inspirations that it carries me for a while.

Otherwise I get out and go hiking and take the camera.

Hahaha, we kid about it sometimes, but we don't usually. We have different styles and strengths, which helps. It's the ultimate compliment that I can even make DH laugh- not many people can do it! He looks at me with respect and says "You're very funny."
He has done professional stand-up in the past, which I can't imagine doing. So in that way, he's funnier but in everyday social or storytelling situations I'm funnier.
Needless to say, we laugh a LOT around here!
I totally recommend people try some classes even if they don't have a desire to perform or take it anywhere. It really helps you look at things differently and can be applied in lots of areas.

@MegWag: Wow, that's really cool!

Do you guys ever get competitive about who is funnier?

The biggest thing I've done to recharge my creativity was to get involved in improvisational comedy. I actually wouldn't have met my husband without it. We've since parted ways with the troupe that we were in, but DH and I collaborate on things. We do lots of "bits" and have written some things (nothing that's gone anywhere yet). Just the practice of improving together gets the creative juices flowing.
I do miss performing though! It's a real buzz.

Mrs. Bee and I have both noticed that when we cocoon at home, our creativity and inspiration declines precipitously. So we try and socialize... I also try to read a lot of random non-fiction, in the hopes of making connections to my work.

Do you worry at all that your creativity has dipped since becoming a parent? How do you recharge your creativity?
