I also use it in place of mayo or mustard on warps/sandwiches/bread.

You could try steaming some carrots, green beans, etc a little so that they are a little more soft but crunchy in the middle.

Sometimes I put it on crackers or toast...but usually we just scoop it onto her tray and she eats it with her fingers. Its messy...but she eats more when she can feed herself.

@MUI831: hahahaha. Oh autocorrect. Yup I meant sabra. Same brand my friends son reacted to. I get cedars brand now and she's never had a problem.

@Foodnerd81: Do you mean Sabra and not Santa? :) That would be awesome since that's the brand that we were buying. I was going to bring it up at his 2 yr appt. Thanks for the info!

Mostly on a spoon. Sometimes on crackers or steamed carrots or something but often she licks it off and tosses the vehicle anyway so I do spoon.

@MUI831: I had the same thing- she had bright red splotches on her face everywhere it touched, including where she rubbed her hummusy hand on her eye. I asked the ped, even brought in a pic at her 12 month appt, and they said it sounded like just a skin reaction to some additive in it, not a real allergic reaction. Since it's one of her few proteins that she eats they said to keep trying. Turns out it's only Santa brand and everything else is fine. Same exact thing happened to my friends LO.

Eta: meant Sabra, not Santa. The autocorrect is too funny to change.

DS loves hummus by the spoonful. We would just buy a container and let him have his fill. Unfortunately, he started getting red patches around his mouth from it so we don't let him have it anymore as we fear some sort of allergy.

My 2.5 year old loves to just eat it by itself. I always offer it with something like bell peppers or crackers but most of the time he just licks it off

@Mrs. Sunshine: For the baby, I just put globs on her tray. She gets messy, but loves it. I've also put it on little grain crackers, or on pieces of toast. I'm having "vehicle" trouble for softer spreads and foods right now too!

I know it's generally eaten on fresh veggies or crackers but are there any other ways I'm not thinking of? LO is 14 months & can take normal sized bites of crunchy veggies but spits them out & won't chew them. She likes/is able to eat crackers but I don't know if I want that to be the only vehicle to serve her hummus on. Any other ways you serve it?
