Daycare is close to home so if I have a few spare minutes and the weather is good I park my car at home and walk the stroller to daycare. The short walk helps alleviate the work and commute stress.

I change my clothes, tie up my hair, put my phone away and basically get into mom mode. Sometimes if I've had a rough day I'll ask Wagon Sr. to set out dinner and I'll sit on the ground to play with the kids.

I struggle with this sometimes. it's hard to focus on playing. I try to give myself a few minutes to decompress on my way to get her. That often helps.

If I'm dealing with something stressful at work, it can be hard for me sometimes to suddenly switch gears to focusing on the kids and being happy around them. But then I see the kids and they jump into my arms, and my heart grows three sizes and it all becomes easy!

If they're not excited to see me though, it's a lot tougher... especially if they don't want to leave wherever they are (preschool, afterschool program). Then I have to take a deep breath, and find my happy place.
