I'm 28 weeks and I sleep on.. gasp... my stomach! (sometimes 1/2 between my stomach and side). I use a giant *regular* pillow under my legs, so my belly isn't smooshed into the bed. When I sleep on my sides I get very sharp rib pain, and when I sleep on my back my legs go numb.

Before you invest in pillows, try out the ones you already have. THEN, go get something that works better, but at least you know what your new sleeping position is.

@aunt pol: both babies are head down but we have a c-section scheduled. we still have the option to cancel but i'm still leaning towards just going with it - since i don't want to vaginally deliver one and have to do an emergency c-section for the other

I'm 26w4d and just the last couple days I'm feeling achy and it's carrying over through the night as well- I've some kind of muscle type ache above and behind my hips, very annoying. I can see how so many of you resort to the recliner for the last stretch- I was so comfy just relaxing on ours this evening, I can see it working! I find now I have to hold my belly to turn around in the bed, then rearrange my between knees pillow and my little wedge cushion for bump support... If we'd had all this crap in the bed six months ago I probably wouldn't be pregnant at all;)

I'm 28 weeks and I just used a regular body pillow, I bought it at Walmart. It helps, but I obviously don't sleep as good as I used to. But the extra support under my bump and having a little something between my legs helps a lot. I would have loved to try one of those pregnancy pillows - but too pricey for me :(

I just bought some extra pillows and put one between my knees. I was interested in getting the snoogle but it seems like it would take some much space on the bed. I'm 32 weeks now and anxiously counting down to when I can sleep normally again!

I'm 18 weeks and have had a snoogle since around 12 weeks when I had a stint of bad sleeping. I'm 5'8" so I still use a king sized pillow on the 'open' side of the C shape so I have support all around. Right now I use it a few times a week, but not every night. I really like it some nights, but other nights, the top of it really hurts my neck and I end up with a headache all day. I think I might need to force some of the stuffing out of the top so it's not so hard. I do think it helps me stay on my side though.

I'm almost 27 weeks and have been using a snoogle off and on since about week 20. I like it more now than before - but before I was having insomnia issues and everything was annoying to me while sleeping! I'm a small person (5'2) and DH is only 5'6 and we have a queen bed - I do feel like the snoogle is a bit big and takes up a lot of space, but it really helps me get comfortable and stay on my side.

We were away last weekend and I used 2 large pillows - one in front between my legs and one behind to keep me from rolling over, and I wasn't quite as comfortable and also ended up on my back a few times.

I'm 21 weeks and remember how hard it was around 17 weeks. Now I've gotten a little bit bigger so I don't have to balance as much as I did before. BUT, I realized that I still needed a body pillow. It arrived today! It's just a simple fat and straight pillow. For weeks I've been trying to buy the U shaped one but no one ships to my country except for Overstock and the shipping was as expensive as the pillow ;(

I bough a snoogle but didn't use it until I was around 25 or 30 weeks. I LOVED it for the end of my pregnancy. A pregnancy pillow might work but I'd try to arrange regular pillows first to see if that helps you. I liked a pillow between my legs & a pillow to hug infront of me by my chest.

I wanted a pillow like that but never got one. I started sleeping on my side early so I would get used to it and ended up sticking a regular pillow between my thighs. It was all I needed throughout my pregnancy so I'm really glad we didn't waste the money on a pregnancy pillow, but it might prove to be helpful for you.

I am a side sleeper and found the pillow between the knees did the trick my whole pregnancy. I am sure the body pillows are great but this was cheaper, one less 'thing' to get, and really helped me sleep.

I always was inclined to sleep on my left side and found that my left hip would ache a little after a few hours so I'd turn onto my right side for a while. But at about 9-10 weeks, I noticed that if I lay on my left side too long, my right hip would ache as well! A friend explained the whole stretching ligament thing and told me to keep a pillow between my legs. What a difference! I have a reasonably thick pillow, not skimpy, that I keep between my knees and I don't toss and turn half as much as I used to. I'm obviously used to it at this stage (26 weeks tomorrow) as I seem to keep it in place even turning in my sleep.
I don't know if I could handle the full body pillow though, I'm inclined to be quite warm as it is...

I'm 24 weeks and have been comfortable using a king sized pillow between my knees. I shove it up under my belly too, to add some fluff there so I'm not fully on my side and can be partially on my belly. I then hug a feather pillow and my head is on a tempur-pedic pillow. Flipping is annoying, but I think it will be with any pillow!

I use a full sized body pillow that I had from back in my single days, although DH had banished it from the bed when we moved in together. But I already slept on my left side a fair amount of the time, so it's more to get my legs and belly comfy.

I'm a snoogle lover :) I just wrap myself up in it and sleep like a baby. It is big, it takes up space in bed, but at 35 weeks, so am I! And all I care about is being comfortable at this point.

I have the snoogle and love it. If you are short, you can almost wrap it around you as long as you sleep in a fetal type position. I also cram pillows against my back because in my sleep I almost always default to sleeping on my back. I don't sleep well, but that's not the snoogle's fault lol pregnancy insomnia.

@Ms.SK: Oooh, great insight, especially since you've already used the pillow I'm considering! :) I'm 5 feet, so I'm not much taller than you are. I was concerned it would swallow me up at first. I get cold easily so the heat would be welcomed, although it might be a problem in the summer. I think I'll just order it and try it out myself since I'm able to try it and return it! (How generous of Amazon! =P) What are you using now, or are you still hunting for a suitable one?

I am 18 weeks now, so we are due right around the same time! I actually ordered the snoogle. I am only 4"8 so the proportions may have been off. It took me several days to figure out how to even use it. Once I got the hang of it I was kind of comfortable for one night and then I started sweating. Knowing I had to take this pregnancy into the summer, I was none to thrilled to sweat in January. I did decide to return it.

Some positive though, yes it is big but the long side is actually more narrow and better filled than a body pillow you would find at the store so it is better in that regard about space. I did find my husband curling up to the other side of it in the middle of the night (how cute). We have a queen size bed and it did work fine, we both had plenty of room. The fabric cover is great and very soft; just like a tee-shirt.

You will see some of the reviews on Amazon that say there isn't enough stuffing in the round end where you put your head and I would agree with that assessment but I used it upside down (I'm short). I liked how when I put the piece between my knees the other side looped around to support my back. It realy was a cocoon as it wrapped me in a complete circle.

Overall, I would tell you to order it, try it for a week. If you don't like it Amazon is great with returns. It only cost us $8 to ship it back.

I tried using a full body pillow but I found it bulk and uncomfortable. I loved the wedge because I was able to tuck it right under my tummy and then use my regular pillow on my head.

I'm only 17 weeks along, but I've begun to sleep on my left side preemptively as practice. I'm pretty sure my spine is unaligned when I do that and I wake up feeling bleh and not well-rested. Are any of you ladies currently using a body pillow, and if so, which kind? I'm considering the Snoogle (http://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Snoogle-Total-Body-Pillow/dp/B0000635WI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329937307&sr=8-1), but I hear it takes up a lot of room and is kinda pricey. I can't put a price on comfort though, so if it actually works, I'd do it! What methods do you use to sleep comfortably? :)
